Deciding on the direction of career and life : personal goals, identity development, and well-being during the transition to adulthood

Humans make efforts to manage their lives, and they do this by setting goals and making decisions. When they commit to their decisions, they construct their identity. This research aimed to study young people’s personal goal contents and appraisals, and how these constructs were related to identity and career identity development and subjective well-being. Tässä artikkelissa tarkastellaan työelämän ja koulutuksen ulkopuolella olevien nuorten aikuisten näkemyksiä ryhmämuotoisuuden mahdollisuuksista kuntoutuksessa. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu sosiaalista ja ammatillista kuntoutusta yhdistävään kuntoutusryhmään osallistuneiden nuorten aikuisten kolmesta ryhmä- ja kolmesta yksilöhaastattelusta (yhteensä 16 haastateltavaa). Reflecting on Work Values with Young Unemployed Adults in Finland

In this article, we explore the internal conversations about the work values of young unemployed adults in Finland. We draw on the theoretical concept of internal conversation by Margaret Archer in order to shift the focus from the individual work values to the interplay between subjective concerns and structural circumstances. The aim of this paper was to analyze how cultural identification, perceived discrimination and the sense of community are related to life satisfaction among foreign partners in intercultural families. The study compared 105 and 95 foreign partners in mixed families resident in Italy and Spain, respectively. The phenomenon in both countries displays similar sociodemographic aspects. Authoress of the article analyses personal identity on an ethnic borderland. Personal identity among other things is an ability to answer following questions: „Who am I, Where am I from?”. Borderland is multiethnic, multicultural and multilanguage area, where defining an unit is especially difficult in the period of nationalistic conflicts. Authoress is considering personal identity on example of Óndra Łysohorsky – Czech regional poet of Silesia, who in the thirties of 20th century was declaring controversial opinion about existence of Lachian nation speaking Lachian language.
