The text of the three Catalan editions of «Història de les amors de París i Viana», published in Barcelona and Girona in the last decade of the fifteenth century, shows a linguistic orientation towards Castilian and Italian onomastics. It has led to postulate two hypotheses on its textual dependence: a Castilian origin and an Italian origin. PICC-line, a peripherally inserted central venous catheter has been implemented by several Norwegian hospitals in recent years. Nurse Anesthetists play an important role in this process, and have been given new tasks as a result of PICC-line implementation. This study aimed to describe Nurse Anesthetists’ experiences with implementation of PICC-line in hospital. A qualitative design, the data are based on three focus groups interviews with fifteen nurse anesthetists. The interviews were analyzed using a hermeneutic approach. The classification of language contact phenomena has always been an important concern among researchers in the field. In particular, the term borrowing has received different definitions from different writers, covering a wide spectrum of words, from pure loanwords to hybrid loans and semantic extensions. This paper presents one of the most influential taxonomies of borrowings in the literature, and analyzes the way in which the various categories proposed in this taxonomy apply to the Romanian/English contact situation. English borrowings selected from a corpus of journalistic prose and from the specialized literature are used to illustrate the theoretical discussion.
The ALHAMBRA survey: B -band luminosity function of quiescent and star-forming galaxies at 0.2 ≤ z < 1 by PDF analysis

[Aims]: Our goal is to study the evolution of the B-band luminosity function (LF) since z ∼ 1 using ALHAMBRA data. [Methods]: We used the photometric redshift and the I-band selection magnitude probability distribution functions (PDFs) of those ALHAMBRA galaxies with I ≤ 24 mag to compute the posterior LF. We statistically studied quiescent and star-forming galaxies using the template information encoded in the PDFs. The LF covariance matrix in redshift - magnitude - galaxy type space was computed, including the cosmic variance.
