Yield measurements at IGISOL with a digital data acquisition system
2017
A new digital data acquisition system has been installed at the IGISOL facility at the department of Physics in University of Jyväskylä in November, 2016. The technical details of the hardware and software of this new system are presented in this thesis. Nutaq VHS-ADC digital data acquisition system includes an analogue to digital converter (ADC) crate board, an offset unit box, an acquisition host PC, and a storage drive. This system consists of 8 channels, has the capability of 105 MSPS with 14-bit ADCs on 6U cPCI (PXI compatible). Radioactive sources, beta-gamma matrix, gamma-gamma matrix, beta-delayed gamma, and gamma-delayed gamma spectra of radioactive isotopes produced at IGISOL were…
Status of the ion trap project at IGISOL
2001
The IGISOL fa ility at the Department of Physi s of the University of Jyväskylä (JYFL) is delivering radioa tive beams of short-lived exoti nu lei, in parti ular the neutron-ri h isotopes from the ssion rea tion. These nu lei are studied with the nu lear spe tros opy methods. In order to substantially in rease the quality and sensitivity of su h studies the beam should undergo beam handling: ooling, bun hing and isobari puri ation. The rst two pro esses are performed with the use of an RFQ ooler/bun her. The isobari puri ation will be made by a Penning trap pla ed after the RF- ooler element. This ontribution des ribes the urrent status of the ion trap pro je t and its future prospe ts. The…
New off-line ion source infrastructure at IGISOL
2016
Uusi off-line ionilähdeasema on otettu käyttöön IGISOL-laitteistolla Jyväskylän yliopistossa. EPICS ohjelmistopak…
RAPTOR : A new collinear laser ionization spectroscopy and laser-radiofrequency double-resonance experiment at the IGISOL facility
2023
RAPTOR, Resonance ionization spectroscopy And Purification Traps for Optimized spectRoscopy, is a new collinear resonance ionization spectroscopy device constructed at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility at the University of Jyv\"askyl\"a, Finland. By operating at beam energies of under 10 keV, the footprint of the experiment is reduced compared to more traditional collinear laser spectroscopy beamlines. In addition, RAPTOR is coupled to the JYFLTRAP Penning trap mass spectrometer, opening a window to laser-assisted nuclear-state selective purification, serving not only the mass measurement program, but also supporting post-trap decay spectroscopy experiments. Finally,…
Resonance laser ionization developments for IGISOL-4
2012
The work presented in this thesis concentrates on the development of the FURIOS laser ion source towards e cient and selective production of low energy radioactive ion beams. This includes design and development of the ion guide and hot cavity catcher systems for laser ion source use, and the development of in-source and in-jet laser spectroscopy techniques. The work has been carried out at the IGISOL facility in the Accelerator laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. The FURIOS facility was upgraded and developed during the move to the IGISOL-4 facility. The laser transport was greatly improved in order to allow a large fraction of the initial laser intensity to be transported into the …

The development and status of the IGISOL technique
1997
Abstract The development of the IGISOL technique since its earliest beginnings at the University of Jyvaskyla in the early '80s is reviewed. The processes involved in ion survival in the ion guide are discussed. The design and performance of ion guides for different types of reactions is summarised. The mass-separated beam quality for different skimmer systems is compared.
Decays of T Z = − 3/2 nuclei 23Al, 31Cl, and 41Ti
2012
This article gives an overview on the decay spectroscopy of T Z = − 3/2 nuclei 23Al, 31Cl, and 41Ti performed at the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility. The results of the IGISOL experiments are compared to the experimental results that have been published since. The isobaric multiplet mass equation (IMME) has been studied for the T = 3/2 quartets at A = 23 and A = 31. For 41Ti, a detailed comparison to the Gamow–Teller strengths obtained for the analog transitions via charge-exchange reactions has been done. Further improvements in the experimental instrumentation and methods and possible implementations for studying T Z = − 3/2 nuclei at the new IGISOL facility are di…
Production of refractory elements close to the Z=N line using the ion-guide technique
1998
Production of neutron-deficient isotopes of refractory elements in the A = 80-88 region was studied using the IGISOL technique and the 165 MeV Si-32 + Ni-nat reaction. Radioactive isotopes of Y through Mo could be produced up to the M-T = + 1 line. New information on the decay of the A = 82 and 85 nuclei, including a more detailed decay scheme and more accurate half-life for Y-82, was obtained. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. Collinear laser spectroscopy of stable palladium isotopes at the IGISOL facility
2020
AbstractCollinear laser spectroscopy on stable palladium isotopes was performed at the IGISOL facility in Jyväskylä in preparation for an experiment on its neutron-rich isotopes. Five transitions from different initial atomic states were tested, with the goal of finding the most spectroscopically efficient. The observed intensities afforded a comparison with atomic-level population predictions based on charge-exchange calculations. For some transitions hyperfine parameters of 105Pd were measured, which were found to be in good agreement with literature values. A King plot analysis was performed using the measured isotope shifts and known charge radii from literature to determine the atomic …
