Antibodies against heat shock proteins have been identified in sera of human glaucoma patients in several studies and immunization with heat shock protein 60 (HSP 60) causes retinal ganglion cell (RGC) loss in an animal model of experimental autoimmune glaucoma. A prospective surveillance network has been set up in France to investigate rotavirus infections and to detect the emergence of potentially epidemic strains.METHODS: From 2014 to 2017, rotavirus-positive stool samples were collected from 2394 children under 5 years old attending the paediatric emergency units of 13 large hospitals. The antibody response of (H-2b X H-2k)F1 mice to pig insulin (PI) has previously been shown to be under the control of H-2-linked, complementing Ir genes. In addition, this response was reported to depend on the genetic background of the parental strains (Keck, K., Eur. J. Immunol. 1977. 7: 811). Influence of universal HBV vaccination on chronic HBV infection in Italy: Results of a cross-sectional multicenter study

Background and Aim The universal hepatitis B vaccination for infants and 12-year-old adolescents (the latter limited to the first 12 years of application) was launched in Italy in 1991. Twenty-three years later we evaluated the impact of the vaccination campaign on the burden of HBsAg-positive chronic liver diseases (CLD). Material and Methods 513 HBsAg-positive chronic carriers referring to 16 Italian liver units were investigated and compared with HBsAg carriers enrolled in previous surveys. Efficacy of immunoglobulins in gram-negative infections in experimentally induced peritonitis in the rat

The effect of adjuvantly administered, newly developed immunoglobulin preparations in combination with an antibiotic is investigated by means of an animal experimental model. The animal model was peritonitis which was induced by a left-open colotomy in the rat. Administration of a combination therapy of immunoglobulins and an antibiotic succeeded in reducing lethality and shock index (according to Staub [15]) significantly by up to 50% as compared to the untreated control group. Three hundred and nineteen adolescents aged 10-12 years who had been previously vaccinated with five doses of acellular pertussis-containing vaccines received single doses of Tdap (reduced-antigen-content tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis) and hepatitis A vaccines in a double-blind crossover trial. Long-term antibody persistence following vaccination with Tdap at pre-school age was similar to that following vaccination with DTaP (diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis). After the sixth dose booster, Tdap induced a vigorous immune response, consistent with protection against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis diseases.
