Decision-making is frequently affected by uncertainty and/or incomplete information, which turn decision-making into a complex task. It is often the case that some of the actors involved in decision-making are not sufficiently familiar with all of the issues to make the appropriate decisions. La toma de decisiones impregna la actividad humana. Con frecuencia, la decisión no es simple porque involucra elementos cualitativos, subjetivos, intangibles. En diversos métodos de decisión multi-criterio, los elementos protagonistas de tales procesos son comparados por pares, y tales comparaciones se utilizan para construir una matriz de comparaciones, de cuyo estudio emerge la decisión. Il progetto SPES prevede il bombardamento di un bersaglio in carburo di uranio con un fascio di protoni, in modo da generare, tramite reazione nucleare, specie radioattive all’interno del target. Le particelle radioattive generate vengono successivamente estratte, ionizzate, separate in massa ed accelerate come fascio di ioni radioattivo. Machine Learning approach towards real time assessment of hand-arm vibration risk

In industry 4,0, the establishment of an interconnected environment where human operators cooperate with the machines offers the opportunity for substantially improving the ergonomics and safety conditions of the workplace. This topic is discussed in the paper referring to the vibration risk, which is a well-known cause of work-related pathologies. A wearable device has been developed to collect vibration data and to segment the signals obtained in time windows. A machine learning classifier is then proposed to recognize the worker’s activity and to evaluate the exposure to vibration risks. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the methodology proposed.

Maintenance Operation on AGN-201 “COSTANZA” Nuclear Research Reactor of Palermo University

During operations with AGN-201 “COSTANZA” nuclear research reactor of Palermo University a failure of a compensated boron-lined ionization chamber provided with a measurement channel was highlighted. A maintenance program aimed to verify the operative conditions of all measurement systems was then started. It was easy to identify as cause of the malfunction a seepage of water inside the container of a Westinghouse WL 6377 ion chamber due to a lack of watertight closure. Evaluation of aging behavior under salt-fog spray conditions of green sandwich structures

In this paper, the aging resistance of sandwich structures made with cork agglomerate as core and flax-reinforced polymeric laminates as face sheets was investigated for the first time. In order to evaluate their durability in a hostile environment, a sandwich plate was manufactured by vacuum bagging technique and aged under salt-fog spray conditions, according to ASTM B 117 standard. The evolution of the sandwich mechanical properties during the aging exposition was analyzed by carrying out quasi-static flexural tests and Charpy impact tests both on unaged specimens and on specimens aged for 10, 25, and 60 days, respectively.
