TESF Methodology for Statistics Education Improvement

2010

The need for universities to achieve excellence in the services they provide has been the subject of research for several decades. The idea of involving students and recognizing the importance of their opinions has led to the creation of various models and tools. This paper focuses on teaching, a central service from which improvement actions of an academic institution should always begin. The article reviews and updates the previously developed Teaching Experiments and Student Feedback methodology. The methodology, which is primarily addressed to statistics teachers, allows practical aspects to be organized and decisions to be made based on data that has been collected from students and sc…

Riemann-Type Definition of the Improper Integrals

2004

Riemann-type definitions of the Riemann improper integral and of the Lebesgue improper integral are obtained from McShane's definition of the Lebesgue integral by imposing a Kurzweil-Henstock's condition on McShane's partitions.

Tracking cruise passengers' consumption: An analysis of the relationships between onshore mobility and expenditure

2022

This paper analyzes the relationships between the spatial behaviour and destination expenditures of cruise tourists by integrating customer surveys and GPS tracking technology. Based on data collated in 2018 and 2019 in Copenhagen, cruise passenger expenditure was modelled via logistic regression, using socio-demographic characteristics and mobility-related variables. In order to map the spatial behaviour and the key characteristics of the itinerary followed, tracking data were synthesized into meaningful mobility variables. An analysis of stops was performed to identify locations with the potential highest expenditure density. The results indicated that spatial movement and, in particular,…

NETWORKS, KNOWLEDGE AND COMPLEXITY : an Inquiry into the Architectural Dynamics of Strategic Networks

2018

The purpose of the book is to provide an interpretative framework helping to understand the emergence and development of strategic networks and their multilevel architectures. Drawing on three complementary theoretical approaches (strategic network theory, the knowledge-based theory of the firms, and complexity theory), the book considers strategic networks as complex dynamic networks of knowledge, resources, and capabilities. This view is able to shed new light on the multilevel architecture epitomizing strategic networks and the specific processes of knowledge, resource, and capability transfer, sharing, and creation that occur within and between network levels. Accordingly, the volume cl…

Set-valued stochastic integral equations driven by martingales

2012

Abstract We consider a notion of set-valued stochastic Lebesgue–Stieltjes trajectory integral and a notion of set-valued stochastic trajectory integral with respect to martingale. Then we use these integrals in a formulation of set-valued stochastic integral equations. The existence and uniqueness of the solution to such the equations is proven. As a generalization of set-valued case results we consider the fuzzy stochastic trajectory integrals and investigate the fuzzy stochastic integral equations driven by bounded variation processes and martingales.

Improvisation for innovation: The contingent role of resource and structural factors in explaining innovation capability

2018

The file attached to this record is the author's final peer reviewed version. The Publisher's final version can be found by following the DOI link. This paper focuses on resource and structural factors to explore the relationship between organizational improvisation and innovation capability. Although the role of improvisation has attracted increasing academic attention in fast-changing environments, little is known about the conditions under which firms benefit from improvisation. This paper addresses this gap using an organizational learning perspective that explains the role of a firm's organizational structure and organizational resources for improvisation and innovation. A large-scale …

Individual Decisions and Perceived Form in Collective Free Improvisation

2015

International audience; This paper proposes a first attempt to study quantitatively Collective Free Improvisation (CFI). We report an experiment designed to study the relationship between the improvisers’ individual high-level decisions and the improvisation’s form perceived by external auditors. We recorded 16 trios in which the improvisers used a MIDI-pedal to indicate in real-time a significant change in their own musical production. Expert listeners were later asked to segment each improvisation so that we obtained their perception of the structure. By analysing the correlations between musicians’ individual decisions and listeners’ segmentation points, we discuss how the improvisation’…

Facial scanning accuracy depending on the alignment algorithm and digitized surface area location: An in vitro study.

2021

To measure the accuracy (trueness and precision) of a facial scanner depending on the alignment method and the digitized surface area location.Fourteen markers were adhered on a head mannequin and digitized using an industrial scanner (GOM Atos Q 3D 12 M; Carl Zeiss Industrielle Messtechnik GmbH). A control mesh was acquired. Subsequently, the mannequin was digitized using a facial scanner (Arc4; Bellus3D) (n = 30). The control mesh was delineated into 10 areas. Based on the alignment procedures, two groups were created: reference best fit (RBF group) and landmark-based best fit (LA group). The root mean square was used to calculate the discrepancy between the control mesh and each facial s…
