The aim of this essay is to argue against the atomistic conception of man that underlies much of modern philosophy and to support, in contrast, a hermeneutical approach that makes possible to defend a holistic individualism. Tutkimus avaa näkökulmia ymmärtää häitä ja häiden juhlintaa kulttuurisena ilmiönä. Häät olen rajannut tässä tutkimuksessa tarkoittamaan nykyaikaisia 2000-luvun alun suomalaisia häitä. Työssä puhun hääjuhlailmiöstä, jolla tarkoitan yhä suureellisempien häiden suosion kasvua 1980-luvulta alkaen. Hääjuhlailmiöön kuuluu yhä suurempien juhlien järjestämisen lisäksi erityisen hääteollisuuden synty, sekä hääaiheisten media- ja kulttuurintuotteiden lisääntyminen ja leviäminen. . Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel is usually, and rightly, considered the foremost representative of the organistic conception of society. It is only natural to think that his view has nothing in common with the kind of individualistic outlook that dominates our legal and political thinking, and that I myself have tried to defend. I try to show why certain insights of Hegel are potentially important even for individualistic legal and political theories. First, I explicate some of the problems he struggled with, and compare his views with those of Thomas Hobbes. Emotions of music listening in Finland and in India : Comparison of an individualistic and a collectivistic culture

Music is appreciated for emotional reasons across cultures, but knowledge on the cross-cultural similarities and differences of music-evoked emotions is still sparse. The current study compared music-evoked emotions in Finland and in India, contextualizing them within the perceived psychological functionality of music in an individualistic versus collectivistic culture. Participants ( N = 230) answered an online survey on music-evoked emotions and related personal meanings. W artykule przedstawia się wizję wspólnoty obecnie mieszkającego we Francji filozofa i teologa Jeana Vaniera. W jego osobie zauważa się łączenie wiedzy z doświadczeniem, teorię z praktyką. Owocem tych „łączeń” jest istniejąca do dzisiaj wspólnota L 'Arche.
