How to Enhance the Sharing of Cyber Incident Information via Fine-Grained Access Control
2022
Industry 4.0 and the ongoing digital transformation along with a large number interconnected machines anddevices increase the role of cybersecurity, cyber incident handling and incident response in the factories of the future (FoF). Cyber incident information sharing plays a major role when we need to formulate situational pictures about FoF operations and environment, and respond to cybersecurity threats related to e.g. the implementation of novel technologies. Sharing of incident information has a major drawback since it may reveal too much about the attack target, e.g. in the case of legacy systems and therefore restrictions may apply. We have developed a proof-of-concept service that co…

2021
This study aims to elucidate how modern presentation technology is being used by Norwegian Christian congregations. It is based on a survey answered by 715 church leaders, and the practice revealed is discussed particularly on the basis of Eileen D. Crowley's framework for ‘liturgical media art’. The findings show that presentation technology is used to a significant extent, but mainly as practical, visual support for communication. The article argues that there is a potential to use technology for aesthetic purposes as well.
Decoupled control scheme of grid-connected split-source inverters
2017
Grid-connected power conversion systems for renewable energy sources must fulfill several requirements, e.g., the high efficiency, the reduced cost and complexity, and, quite often, the boost capabilities that is usually achieved using a front-end dc–dc boost converter before the inversion stage, leading to a two-stage architecture. Meanwhile, single-stage power conversion systems, which perform the boosting operation within the inversion one, offer some potential advantages, in terms of reducing the complexity and the volume of the whole system. Among several proposed options, the split-source inverter (SSI) has been recently proposed by Abdelhakim et al. as an alternative option with some…
L'ignorance pour commencer
2020
This article retraces the intellectual journey of a young researcher, Baudouin Jurdant, who claims his status as an ignorant person in order to start his thesis. From this singular posture, he takes advantage of the fact that he makes scientific popularisation an object of research.
Gestural Agency in Human-Machine Musical Interaction
2017
Musical technologies are evolving in such a way that they start to resemble the people that use them. In this vision it seems pertinent to abandon the conception of musicians as users of musical instruments in favor of machines and humans interacting to make music. Both the machine and the human can be modeled as embodied cognitive agents that comprise a network of musical gestures. These gestures are multi-modal signals that allow the agents to exert influence upon each other towards making music. This standpoint integrates traditional and novel music-making technologies, towards a better understanding of musical interaction. peerReviewed
Who Controls Who? Embodied Control Within Human–Technology Choreographies
2017
In this article we explore issues of embodied control that relate to current and future technologies in which body movements function as an instrument of control. Instead of just seeing ourselves in control, it is time to consider how these technologies actually control our moving bodies and transform our lived spaces. By shifting the focus from devices to choreographies among devices, we perform a theoretical analysis of the multidimensional aspects that reside within embodied interaction with technology. We suggest that it is beneficial to acknowledge and reformulate the phenomena of embodied control that go beyond the instrumental user-to-device control scheme. Drawing upon the phenomeno…
Working the fields of big data : Using big-data-augmented online ethnography to study candidate–candidate interaction at election time
2017
The paper proposes big-data-augmented ethnography as a novel mixed-methods approach to studying political discussions in a hybrid media system. Using such empirical setup, the authors examined candidate–candidate online interaction during election campaigning. Candidate–candidate interaction crossing party boundaries is scarce and occurs in the form of negative campaigning via social media, with the shaming of rival candidates and engaging in battles with them. The authors posit that ethnographic observations can be used to contextualize the computational analysis of large data sets, while computational analysis can be applied to validate and generalize the findings made through ethnography…
