In this study, we compared the employment and occupational status of childhood cancer survivors with population comparisons and siblings.Methods: In a cohort study based on Nordic registers, we identified 10 461 survivors of childhood cancer diagnosed before age 20 years in Denmark, Finland and Sweden since 1971. This in vitro study evaluated the marginal microleakage of composite inlays luted with 3 different cement systems. The null hypothesis was that the luting materials would not influence dye penetration, showing the same degree of microleakage. An updated version of FATEMOD, a multimedia fugacity model for environmental fate of organic chemicals, was set up to assess environmental behaviour of three pharmaceuticals in northern Lake Päijänne, Finland. Concentrations of ibuprofen, diclofenac, and carbamazepine were estimated at various depths at two sites: near a wastewater treatment plant and 3.5 km downstream the plant. When compared with environmental sampling data from corresponding depths and sites, the predicted concentrations, ranging from nanograms to hundreds of nanograms per litre, were found to be in good agreement. This article investigates the daily travelling practices that are related to mobile-only, fixed-only and combined mobile/fixed use of the Internet, and the social differentiations that are related to these three ways of accessing the Internet. Survey data ( N = 612) collected from Finland in 2011 are analysed. The article shows that mobile-only Internet use is not associated with particularly diverse or frequent daily travelling practices, whereas combined mobile/fixed use is. Mobile-only Internet users are, in fact, in a relatively disadvantaged position – compared with other users, they are more typically unemployed and their household income is lower. Proposal of a new diffractive corneal inlay to improve near vision in a presbyopic eye

[EN] A new class of diffraction-based corneal inlays for treatment of presbyopia is described. The inlay is intended to achieve an improvement of the near focus quality over previous designs. Our proposal is a two-zone hybrid device with separated amplitude and phase areas having a central aperture and no refractive power. An array of micro-holes is distributed on the surface of the inlay conforming a binary photon sieve. In this way, the central hole of the disk contributes to the zero order of diffraction, and the light diffracted by the micro-holes in the peripheral photon sieve produces a real focus for near vision.
