A novel approach to integration by parts reduction

2015

Integration by parts reduction is a standard component of most modern multi-loop calculations in quantum field theory. We present a novel strategy constructed to overcome the limitations of currently available reduction programs based on Laporta's algorithm. The key idea is to construct algebraic identities from numerical samples obtained from reductions over finite fields. We expect the method to be highly amenable to parallelization, show a low memory footprint during the reduction step, and allow for significantly better run-times.

Symbolic integration of hyperexponential 1-forms

2019

Let $H$ be a hyperexponential function in $n$ variables $x=(x_1,\dots,x_n)$ with coefficients in a field $\mathbb{K}$, $[\mathbb{K}:\mathbb{Q}] <\infty$, and $\omega$ a rational differential $1$-form. Assume that $H\omega$ is closed and $H$ transcendental. We prove using Schanuel conjecture that there exist a univariate function $f$ and multivariate rational functions $F,R$ such that $\int H\omega= f(F(x))+H(x)R(x)$. We present an algorithm to compute this decomposition. This allows us to present an algorithm to construct a basis of the cohomology of differential $1$-forms with coefficients in $H\mathbb{K}[x,1/(SD)]$ for a given $H$, $D$ being the denominator of $dH/H$ and $S\in\mathbb{K}[x…

Semantic HMC for Big Data Analysis

2014

International audience; Analyzing Big Data can help corporations to im-prove their efficiency. In this work we present a new vision to derive Value from Big Data using a Semantic Hierarchical Multi-label Classification called Semantic HMC based in a non-supervised Ontology learning process. We also proposea Semantic HMC process, using scalable Machine-Learning techniques and Rule-based reasoning.

Label swapper device for spectral amplitude coded optical packet networks monolithically integrated on InP

2011

In this paper the design, fabrication and experimental characterization of an spectral amplitude coded (SAC) optical label swapper monolithically integrated on Indium Phosphide (InP) is presented. The device has a footprint of 4.8x1.5 mm 2 and is able to perform label swapping operations required in SAC at a speed of 155 Mbps. The device was manufactured in InP using a multiple purpose generic integration scheme. Compared to previous SAC label swapper demonstrations, using discrete component assembly, this label swapper chip operates two order of magnitudes faster. © 2011 Optical Society of America.

Recent evidence suggests a rather gradual developmental trajectory for processing vertical relational face information, lasting well into late adolescence (de Heering and Schlitz, 2012). Results from another recent study (Tanaka et al., 2014) indicate that children and young adolescents use a smaller spatial integration field for faces than do adults, which particularly affects assessment of long-range vertical relations. Here we studied sensitivity to replacement of eyes and eyebrows (F), variation of inter-eye distance (H) and eye height (V) in young adolescents (11-12 years), young (21-25 years) and middle-age adults (51-62 years). In order to provide a baseline for potential age effects…

How Financial Freedom and Integration Change Public Debt Impact on Financial Development in the Asia-Pacific: A Panel Smooth Transition Regression Ap…

2018

This study investigates the non‐linear effect of fiscal policy (measured by total domestic public sector debt) on the level of financial development, using a balanced panel of 22 economies in the Asia‐Pacific region. Governments in less developed financial institutional infrastructure (for instance, emerging markets) tend to abuse their power by intervening in the domestic debt market. This study shows that better financial institutional infrastructure helps to discipline governments. The results suggest a negative effect of domestic public sector debt on financial development, but only at low level of financial freedom and integration. Higher financial freedom and financial integration wou…

Operational and financial effectiveness of e-collaboration tools in supply chain integration

2004

This paper develops a comprehensive model of supply chain integration and uses it to analyze and assess the operational and financial effectiveness of different e-collaboration tools at various levels of supply chain integration. This model is also used to evaluate the importance of the sequence in which e-collaboration tools are adopted in supply chain integration. Computational results from a validated system dynamics simulation model with different implementation sequences of e-collaboration tools and different financial scenarios show that local financial constraints can also severely impact operational and financial performance of the entire supply chain. The international debt problem: An analysis of the Brady plan

1989

Recently the American Treasury Secretary, Nicholas Brady, launched a new initiative in which he proposed reducing the developing countries’ bank debt. What are the elements of the plan, and which countries would benefit? What problems does it entail? Can it bring about a decisive improvement in the international debt situation of the developing countries? The following two articles attempt to answer these questions.

Future directions in international financial integration research - A crowdsourced perspective

2018

This paper is the result of a crowdsourced effort to surface perspectives on the present and future direction of international finance. The authors are researchers in financial economics who attended the INFINITI 2017 conference in the University of Valencia in June 2017 and who participated in the crowdsourcing via the Overleaf platform. This paper highlights the actual state of scientific knowledge in a multitude of fields in finance and proposes different directions for future research.

The impact of the financial crisis on financial integration, growth and investment

2012

Financial crises, and in particular those of the past few years, have severe consequences for the affected economies. In this paper we analyse the impact of financial development and European financial integration on growth and we find no reversal of the growth benefits of financial development and integration in recent years. This highlights the economic cost of regulatory changes that would reverse European financial integration. We also find that, following a financial crisis, investment declines more in countries with a greater degree of uncertainty aversion, which can be informative for evaluating post-crisis economic performance.
