The promoter region and transcriptional regulation of the nuoA-N gene locus encoding the proton-translocating NADH:quinone oxidoreductase was analysed. A 560 bp intergenic region upstream of the nuo locus was followed by a gene (designated lrhA for LysR homologue A) coding for a gene regulator similar to those of the LysR family. Disruption of lrhA did not affect growth (respiratory or non-respiratory) or expression of nuo significantly. In this paper, some simulations of the interconnected Sicilian and Maltese transmission systems are performed, in order to assess this new system configuration. The HVAC submarine interconnection between Italy and Malta came into operation in 2015 and is part of a European programme for transmission grid interconnection improvement. Terms of trade, catch-up, and home-market effect: The example of Japan

Abstract This paper explores theoretically and empirically the medium- and long-run relation of the terms of trade (ratio of traded goods prices) and economic growth of a pair of countries—one of which experiences a major catch-up process towards the other. Two theoretical interdependencies between the terms of trade and economic growth are offered: the home-market effect and the productivity-shock effect. These two effects are tested against each other in a cointegration analysis on data for Japan and the US from 1971 until 1997. Income is cointegrated with the terms of trade. This paper describes the contribution given by the application of the systems engineering approach to the European DEMO Breeding Blanket (BB) integration studies, focussing on the integration of Heating & Current Drive (H&CD) and Fuelling Lines (FL) systems. The preceding decade has witnessed a boost in research on the European Commission (Commission). One central issue debated has been Commission centre formation, both what it entails, its sources, and potential implications. Centre formation in this literature entails the internal integration of government institutions, thus reinforcing intra- institutional administrative hierarchies.
