Motivational configurations of cultural intelligence, social integration, and performance in global virtual teams
2021
Abstract Global virtual teams (GVTs), electronically connected workgroups of geographically dispersed team members in multinational settings, may suffer from less social integration. However, they may also benefit from an increased ability to process information due to a richer portfolio of ideas and problem-solving approaches that the team’s diversity provides. We propose that the cultural intelligence (CQ) of team members contributes positively to social integration in GVTs and improves performance. Using data from 263 GVTs, we utilized both structural equation modeling and necessary condition analyses to explore the associations between motivational CQ and a team’s social integration and…

The euro impact on trade: long run evidence with structural breaks
2012
In this paper we present new evidence on the euro effect on trade. We use a data set containing all bilateral combinations in a panel of 26 OECD countries during the period 1967-2008. From a methodological point of view, we implement a new generation of tests that allow solving some of the problems derived from the non-stationary nature of the data. To this aim we apply panel tests that account for the presence of cross-section dependence as well as discontinuities in the non-stationary panel data. We test for cointegration between the variables using panel cointegration tests, especially the ones proposed by Banerjee and Carrióni- Silvestre (2010). We also efficiently estimate the long-run…
Growth in a time of external imbalances
2019
Abstract Globalization and financial integration have increased in the last three decades giving rise to cumulated large external imbalances. The question we address in this paper is whether economic growth can be affected by these external imbalances. We estimate an augmented growth equation with the external stock position of the countries measured by the net foreign asset position. Unlike previous literature, we use non-parametric methods that capture non-linearities and heterogeneity, and apply them to a sample that includes 106 developed and developing countries for the period 1983-2011. Contrary to the neoclassical theory, we find that improvements in the external position foster grow…
Dental implants placement in paranoid squizofrenic patient with obsessive-compulsive disorder: A case report
2017
Background Paranoid schizophrenia is a mental illness that involves no observable anatomical alteration. Main characteristic affects the personality of the individual, as well as areas of his own psychology. Case report A 33-year-old man with paranoid schizophrenia and obsessive-compulsive disorder in treatment with Haloperidol, Oxcarbazepine, Olanzapine and Seroquel is presented. Dental exploration showed widespread decay mostly cervical with numerous root fragments, agenesis of lateral incisors, impacted wisdom teeth, missing teeth and malocclusion. Treatment plan included restoration of teeth decay, extractions of root fragments and implant-supported prostheses in bilateral upper lateral…
DeepXS: fast approximation of MSSM electroweak cross sections at NLO
2018
We present a deep learning solution to the prediction of particle production cross sections over a complicated, high-dimensional parameter space. We demonstrate the applicability by providing state-of-the-art predictions for the production of charginos and neutralinos at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the next-to-leading order in the phenomenological MSSM-19 and explicitly demonstrate the performance for $pp\to\tilde{\chi}^+_1\tilde{\chi}^-_1,$ $\tilde{\chi}^0_2\tilde{\chi}^0_2$ and $\tilde{\chi}^0_2\tilde{\chi}^\pm_1$ as a proof of concept which will be extended to all SUSY electroweak pairs. We obtain errors that are lower than the uncertainty from scale and parton distribution functi…
Solid-solid phase transition in hard ellipsoids
2009
We present a computer simulation study of the crystalline phases of hard ellipsoids of revolution. A previous study [P. Pfleiderer and T. Schilling, Phys. Rev. E 75, 020402 (2007)]. showed that for aspect ratios a/bor=3 the previously suggested stretched-fcc phase [D. Frenkel and B. Mulder, Mol. Phys. 55, 1171 (1985)] is unstable with respect to a simple monoclinic phase with two ellipsoids of different orientations per unit cell (SM2). In order to study the stability of these crystalline phases at different aspect ratios and as a function of density we have calculated their free energies by thermodynamic integration. The integration path was sampled by an expanded ensemble method in which …
Response of nonlinear oscillators with fractional derivative elements under evolutionary stochastic excitations: A Path Integral approach based on La…
2023
In this paper, an approximate analytical technique is developed for determining the non-stationary response amplitude probability density function (PDF) of nonlinear/hysteretic oscillators endowed with fractional element and subjected to evolutionary excitations. This is achieved by a novel formulation of the Path Integral (PI) approach. Specifically, a stochastic averaging/linearization treatment of the original fractional order governing equation of motion yields a first-order stochastic differential equation (SDE) for the oscillator response amplitude. Associated with this first-order SDE is the Chapman–Kolmogorov (CK) equation governing the evolution in time of the non-stationary respon…
Non-linear systems under Levy White Noise Handled by path integration method
2009
Aim of this paper is an investigation on the consistency of the Path Integration (PI) method already proposed by Naess & Johansen, 1991,1993 for non-linear systems driven by α-stable white noise. It is shown that in the limit, as τ→0, the Einstein-Smoluchowsky (ES) equation is fully restored. Once the consistency of the PI is demonstrated for the half oscillator, then the extension of the ES equation for MDOF system is found starting from the PI method.
