SummaryThe intermediate filament composition was studied in a malignant neoplasm of the vulva in a 42 year old patient. The absence of vimentin excluded the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. Anaplastic squamous cell carcinoma could be excluded by the presence of glandular type cytokeratins numbers 7, 8, 18, 19 in the neoplastic cells. Intermediate filament typing did not support a diagnosis of epithelioid sarcoma. Since the typical epidermal involvement by tumour cells was lacking, Paget's disease was excluded. Indirect effects of invasive crayfish on native fish parasites

Interactions between invasive and native species are often modified by parasites. One little-studied scenario is that invasive species affect parasite transmission to native hosts by altering the relative abundance of hosts needed in parasite life cycles, for example by predation on these hosts. Here we show that presence of an invasive crayfish species, Pacifastacus leniusculus, decreases the mean abundance of native parasites transmitted from snails and aquatic isopods to perch, Perca fluviatilis, in two large boreal lakes in Finland. Two types of bucephalid cercariae are reported from the bivalve Anodonta anatina in two Finnish lakes. One, Type A, resembles in gross morphology the cercaria of Bucephalus polymorphus, and the other, Type B, resembles the cercaria of Rhipidocotyle campanula. Type A daughter-sporocysts develop more slowly, have a greater cercarial productivity and exhibit a differential diurnal rhythm to that of Type B. Cercariae of Type A have a shorter longevity than Type B and tend to encyst in the fins rather than the gill-arches of fish intermediate hosts. Parasite communities of perch were studied in a natural lake (Vetamajarvi) and two reservoirs (the Kyrkosjarvi and Liikapuro reservoirs) located in Western Finland. All water bodies studied are small, shallow and humic. However, the reservoirs are more acidic than the lake (pH 5.9 and 5.3 vs. 6.4). Altogether, 18 parasite species were found, but the component communities were reduced in the harsh conditions of the reservoirs (12 and six species) as compared with the lake (17 species). The photoinduced competitive rearrangements of 5-perfluoroalkyl-3-amino(N-alkylamino)-1,2,4-oxadia- zoles have been investigated by DFT calculations and UV-vis spectroscopy. The observed product selectivity depends on the number of hydrogen atoms present in the amino moiety and involves two or three possible routes: (i) ring contraction-ring expansion (RCRE), (ii) internal-cyclization isomerization (ICI), or (iii) C(3)-N(2) migration-nucleophilic attack-cyclization (MNAC). Dispersion relation formalism for the two-photon exchange correction to elastic muon-proton scattering: elastic intermediate state

We evaluate the two-photon exchange correction to the unpolarized cross section in the elastic muon-proton scattering within dispersion relations. One of the six independent invariant amplitudes requires a subtraction. We fix the subtraction function to the model estimate of the full two-photon exchange at one of three MUSE beam energies and make a prediction for the two other energies. Additionally, we present single and double polarization observables accounting for the lepton mass.
Discussion on triangle singularities in the Λb→J/ψK−p reaction

We have analyzed the singularities of a triangle loop integral in detail and derived a formula for an easy evaluation of the triangle singularity on the physical boundary. It is applied to the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ process via ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}^{*}$-charmonium-proton intermediate states. Although the evaluation of absolute rates is not possible, we identify the ${\ensuremath{\chi}}_{c1}$ and the $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$ as the relatively most relevant states among all possible charmonia up to the $\ensuremath{\psi}(2S)$. Beam normal spin asymmetry for the ep→eΔ(1232) process

We calculate the single spin asymmetry for the $e p \to e \Delta(1232)$ process, for an electron beam polarized normal to the scattering plane. Such single spin asymmetries vanish in the one-photon exchange approximation, and are directly proportional to the absorptive part of a two-photon exchange amplitude. As the intermediate state in such two-photon exchange process is on its mass shell, the asymmetry allows one to access for the first time the on-shell $\Delta \to \Delta$ as well as $N^\ast \to \Delta$ electromagnetic transitions.
