Locus ovatus in formam amphitheatri constructus. Dal Teatro Greco di Villa Adriana al Teatro Olimpico di Palladio

2018

In 1579, at the end of a career studded with prestigious assignments, Andrea Palladio designed for the Olympic Academy a “theater on an ancient model but small and unspeakably beautiful”, as Goethe wrote in his Journey to Italy. A planimetric form, a social function and architectural details, however, severely shows it off from the Vitruvian body of rules of classical theater, enhancing its originality and making it an invention rooted in late-Alexandrian architectures visited and surveyed by Palladio at the Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli.

Che ci fa Carlo Scarpa in scena a Oslo?

2017

Interiors and Exhibits: narrative in motion

2008

At…

THE LIGHT IN MUSEUM EXHIBITIONS AS AN EFFECTIVE TOOL FOR COMMUNICATING THE MEANING OF ANCIENT REMAINS

2011

In this paper, based on research made by the Authors in the Mediterranean area, is highlighted how the use of light in museums can effectively contribute to a better knowledge of the past, giving citizens the opportunity to rediscover their identity and tourists to understand local history and archaeology. The research investigates about the aspects of lighting for archaeological sites or part of them. The charm of an archaeological site or a monument comes from the perception of its whole environmental context, both for functional lighting and artistic valorization. The emphasis is on what should be the most effective lighting system for the monumental sites, one respecting the ruins and t…

Natura, territorio e sentimenti dell’uomo: una questione d’identità.Oradour-sur-Glane e il museo della memoria

2010

When a community has a suffering memory, within the memory-oblivion mechanisms characterizing every form of social stability, the interventions of musealization of a specific landscape can usefully contribute to the “trauma elaboration” process, being the only helpful expedients to turn the painful events that the community is not able to cope with into a “shared commemoration”. However, based on the experience from the Charles de Gaulle Memorial in Colombey, the museal interpretation can determine a touristic earning power which can often overwhelm the more expected “duty of memory”. Every new museal insertion, being a place fit for the building of the community mind, has in fact to fulfil…
