Automated recorders are increasingly used in remote sensing of wildlife, yet automated methods of processing the audio remains challenging. Identifying animal sounds with machine learning provides a solution, but optimizing the models requires annotated training data. Producing such data can require much manual effort, which could be alleviated by engaging masses to contribute to research and share the workload. Birdwatchers are experts on identifying bird vocalizations and form an ideal focal audience for a citizen science project aiming for the required multitudes of annotated avian audio data. Current approaches to the design of educational animations too often appear to be largely founded upon intuition rather than research-based principles. Animated diagrams designed to be behaviourally realistic run the risk of learners overlooking vital high relevance information that has low intrinsic perceptual salience. The information that learners extract from such representations is a poor basis upon which to build high quality dynamic mental models. This Dissertation focuses on the iconography of the Crucifixion in the Carolingian mural painting between the 9th and the beginning of the 11th century. Pivot in the Christian thought with its dogmatic scope, the Crucifixion remains however poorly represented in the Latin West until the middle of the 8th century. Tutkielma tarkastelee puhuttelumuotojen käyttöä suomen-, ruotsin-, englannin- ja ranskankielisissä Muumi-sarjakuvissa. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat eri puhuttelusubstantiivit ja niihin liittyvät paralingvistiset keinot. Aineisto koostuu ensimmäisestä englantilaiselle The Evening News -sanomalehdelle julkaistusta Muumi-sarjakuvasta ja sen englannin-, ranskan- ja suomenkielisistä käännöksistä. Vaikka Muumi-sarjakuvat julkaistiin ensiksi englanniksi, Tove Jansson kirjoitti ne ruotsiksi, ja hänen veljensä Lars, joka myöhemmin otti sarjakuvien tekemisen kokonaan vastuulleen, käänsi ne englanniksi. Monet N–asyylihemiaminaalin sisältävät luonnonaineet toimivat tai ovat potentiaalisia antimikrobisia tai kasvaimia inhiboivia yhdisteitä. N–asyylihemiaminaaliosat tuovat omat haasteensa luonnonaineiden synteeseihin. Niiden vuoksi synteeseissä täytyy kiinnittää erityistä huomiota reaktio-olosuhteiden happamuuteen, käytettyjen reagenssien regio- ja stereoselektiivisiin ominaisuuksiin sekä valmistettavan molekyylin muiden osien vaikutuksista hemiaminaaliosaan. Tässä tutkielmassa on esitelty muutamien luonnonaineiden synteesejä niiden hemiaminaaliosan kannalta sekä tehty havaintoja, kuinka ne käyttäytyvät synteeseissä.
