Nuevas pinturas europeas en el MOBAT (Chile)
2018
The MOBAT is one of the most significant cultural spaces in Chile, due to the history that surrounds its emblematic building as well as the quantity and quality of artistic works and historical pieces that it treasures. However, sin…
2020
The primary aim of the thesis is to expose the artist’s main biographical lines, which will appear as partly linked to his family background, involving him in the artistic world very early and influencing his life course, on a private but mostly on a professional level, and this throughout a long period covering three quarters of the 19th century. In the first part of the thesis the work of Eugène Ciceri as a painter will be explored - a work over which a certain amount of confusion has remained until now - in order to detect its main strengths and show how the artist develops his own grammar of landscaping. At first described as dense and diversified, his lithographic production will then b…
2017
Miguel del Prado, a painter who formed a company with Miguel Esteve in order to paint the now-lost Valencia town hall chapel in 1519, is an artist for whom there is scant documentary evidence. He has been identified with the anonymous Master of the Grifo, but this has been questioned recently. The author here offers news of a contract given to del Prado for an altarpiece in the Rosary Chapel of the old convent of Santo Domingo in Valencia that he was unable to fulfill due to his untimely death. It has been possible to certify that he perished on the battlefield of Almenara during the Germanias Revolt of 1521. Therefore the chronology for this painter has now been reduced by more than 16 yea…
2008
The painter from Castellón, Joaquin Oliet Cruellas, carried out prolific mural decorations for various churches in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón in which his intense visual culture is evident. Especially interesting are the series of Fathers of the Latin Church painted for several of these churches, which display, with variants, compositions identical to those attributed to Francisco de Goya in Calatayud, Muel and Remolinos.

From Maya Blue to “Maya Yellow”: A Connection between Ancient Nanostructured Materials from the Voltammetry of Microparticles
2011
The yellow hue of a series of samples from wall paintings in several Mayan archaeological sites can be attributed to the presence of indigoid compounds, including isatin and dehydroindigo, attached to palygorskite, a local phyllosilicate clay. SEM/EDX, TEM, UV/Vis spectroscopy, and voltammetry of microparticles show that the ancient Mayas could prepare indigo, Maya Blue, and "Maya Yellow" during successive stages.
