Estimates for the differences of positive linear operators and their derivatives

The present paper deals with the estimate of the differences of certain positive linear operators and their derivatives. Oxur approach involves operators defined on bounded intervals, as Bernstein operators, Kantorovich operators, genuine Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators, and Durrmeyer operators with Jacobi weights. The estimates in quantitative form are given in terms of the first modulus of continuity. In order to analyze the theoretical results in the last section, we consider some numerical examples.

We show that the Heisenberg group is not minimal in looking down. This answers Problem 11.15 in `Fractured fractals and broken dreams' by David and Semmes, or equivalently, Question 22 and hence also Question 24 in `Thirty-three yes or no questions about mappings, measures, and metrics' by Heinonen and Semmes. The non-minimality of the Heisenberg group is shown by giving an example of an Ahlfors $4$-regular metric space $X$ having big pieces of itself such that no Lipschitz map from a subset of $X$ to the Heisenberg group has image with positive measure, and by providing a Lipschitz map from the Heisenberg group to the space $X$ having as image the whole $X$. Extent and persistence of soil water repellency induced by pines in different geographic regions

The extent (determined by the repellency indices RI and RIc) and persistence (determined by the water drop penetration time, WDPT) of soil water repellency (SWR) induced by pines were assessed in vastly different geographic regions. The actual SWR characteristics were estimated in situ in clay loam soil at Ciavolo, Italy (CiF), sandy soil at Culbin, United Kingdom (CuF), silty clay soil at Javea, Spain (JaF), and sandy soil at Sekule, Slovakia (SeF). From Feynman–Kac formulae to numerical stochastic homogenization in electrical impedance tomography

In this paper, we use the theory of symmetric Dirichlet forms to derive Feynman–Kac formulae for the forward problem of electrical impedance tomography with possibly anisotropic, merely measurable conductivities corresponding to different electrode models on bounded Lipschitz domains. Subsequently, we employ these Feynman–Kac formulae to rigorously justify stochastic homogenization in the case of a stochastic boundary value problem arising from an inverse anomaly detection problem. They are considered a valuable criteria for correlation as they occur in similar time intervals from basin to basin. The determined sedimentary breaks occur in the Agenian, Ramblian, Middle Aragonian, Late Aragonian, Late Vallesian, Middle Turolian, Late Turolian, Late Ruscinian-Early Villafranchian, and Villafranchian ages. We describe a new endemic limacid slug, Gigantomilax (Vitrinoides) benjaminus n. sp. and we compare it with the nearest species, particularly with Gigantomilax (V.) majoricensis, another Balearic endemism. Characteristic features of this new species include its small size, translucid and smooth body, and totally grey dorsum with no bands or spots. The reproductive system shows a well developed vas deferens surrounded by the distal part of prostatic gland, a thin penial retractor muscle, swollen prostate and small distal genitalia. The essay focuses on the different mechanisms of marriage downgrading. Given the principle of ?cross-border continuity? of statuses, limits to this continuity are sometimes admitted and they are placed through downgrading mechanisms. That can occour in the case of same-sex marriages transcription in a Member State which does not allow such marriages, but which does allow samesex registered partnerships. Downgrading mechanism has an anti-elusive function, but it is not without problems in terms of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. According with Barrow´s classification they could be divided in two groups: direct and indirect. The typical symptoms showed by theses pathologies are: pulsating exophthalmos and orbital blow.
