International audience; We provide efficient synthetic access to heteroaryl sulfones in two-steps using a simple palladium-1,1'-bis [(diphenyl)phosphanyl]ferrocene catalyst to form in high yields variously functionalized heteroaromatic thioethers. Pyridinyl-containing substrates can be subsequently selectively oxidized into sulfones and NH-sulfoximines by using very mild oxidation conditions with a high functional group tolerance. In the palladium catalyzed C-S coupling of heteroaromatic thiols, reactivity limitation is attached with electron-deficient thiols. Ligand-stabilized, atomically precise gold nanoclusters with a metal core of a uniform size of just 1–3 nm constitute an interesting class of nanomaterials with versatile possibilities for applications due to their size-dependent properties and modifiable ligand layers. The key to extending the usability of the clusters in applications is to understand the chemical bonding in the ligand layer as a function of cluster size and ligand structure. Abstract The diastereoselective synthesis of hydroxy substituted γ- and δ-lactones was accomplished following two approaches. A 5- or 6-endo cyclization promoted by electrophilic selenium reagents of α- or β-hydroxy acids and a 5- or 6-exo cyclization of hydroxy esters obtained through a diastereoselective hydroxy selenenylation reaction of α- or β-hydroxy esters. Moreover, the diastereoselective methoxy selenenylation of the above compounds was investigated showing a case in which the compound that was unreactive in the hydroxy selenenylation conditions gave, in the methoxy selenenylation conditions, the deprotected diol. Presbiopijas korekcija ar multifokālajām intraokulārajām lēcām

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 47 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 3 zīmējumus, 20 tabulas, 39 literatūras avotus un pielikumu. Darba mērķis ir salīdzināt divu jaunu intraokulāro lēcu (difraktīvā trifokālā lēca un paplašināta fokusa dziļuma multifokālā lēca) efektivitāti presbiopija korekcijā pēc kataraktas operācijas. Pētījumi tika veikti 3 mēnešu periodā pēc kataraktas operācijas, kad tika novērtēta redzes kvalitāte, mērot redzes asumu un kontrasta redzi fotopiskos gaismas un mezopiskos krēslas apstākļos. The water-soluble glutathione-protected [Au25(GSH)18]−1 nanocluster was investigated by integrating several methodologies such as molecular dynamics simulations, essential dynamics analysis, and state-of-the-art time-dependent density functional theory calculations.
