AbstractThis chapter examines toxic meritocracy in relation to gender in competitive Overwatch, asking how gender affects a player’s opportunities for engagement in that scene. It analyzes online news stories and community discussions concerning “Ellie” – a fabricated competitive woman gamer created as a “social experiment” by a man player. Service Climate and Display of Employees’ Positive Emotions: The Mediating Role of Burnout and Engagement in Services

This article aims to test a model linking service climate to the frequency of expression of positive emotions by frontline employees. We propose that burnout and engagement at work mediate the relationship between service climate and the expression of positive emotions. Service climate impacts negatively on burnout and positively on engagement; in turn, burnout and engagement are significantly related to the frequency of expression of positive emotions. This article analyses local care policies through the lens of the feminist ethics of care. The focus is on the normative understandings regarding care that emerge in local care strategy documents and how these understandings relate with the concept of ‘responsibility’. In this article, strategies published by the municipality of Jyväskylä, Finland, between the years 2008 and 2016, are analysed using Trace analysis. The research questions are: How is the division of responsibility regarding care among different actors constructed in the strategies? Tractional Motion Machines extend GPAC-generable functions

In late 17th century there appeared the Tractional Motion instruments, mechanical devices which plot the curves solving differential equations by the management of the tangent. In early 20th century Vannevar Bush’s Differential Analyzer got the same aim: in this paper we’ll compare the Differential Analyzer mathematical model (the Shannon’s General Purpose Analog Computer, or GPAC) with the Tractional Motion Machine potentials. Even if we will not arrive in defining the class of the functions generated by Tractional Motion Machines, we’ll see how this class will strictly extend the GPAC-generable functions.

This chapter deals with the forecasting of vehicle performance on the road, according to the installed engine. It begins with Section 1, which shows the calculation of the resistance to motion, that is, the forces that the vehicle must overcome to advance on flat roads and uphill. A New Perspective on the Relationship between Trading Variables and Volatility in Futures Markets

In this paper, we study the relationship between trading-related variables and volatility in futures markets, from a new unifying perspective, which is based on the separation of open and closed positions. Volatility in stock index futures markets (Standard & Poor’s 500, DAX 30 and Nikkei 225) is related to the flow of contracts entered into the markets and the flow of contracts that are closed out. In general, the daily changes in the number of open and closed positions are both positively correlated with volatility. La ricostruzione repertoriale e critica delle traduzioni che hanno avuto per oggetto il suo corpus si offre, quindi, come documento particolarmente significativo della fortuna traduttoria di un mito letterario, in quanto attesta il rapporto di imitatio/aemulatio che numerosi autori hanno stabilito con il modello nel momento in cui hanno deciso di assimilarlo, attraverso le traduzioni, alle lingue e alle culture nazionali cui essi appartengono.
