Patterns of Children’s Relationships With Parents and Teachers in Grade 1 : Links to Task Persistence and Performance

Our study aimed to investigate the patterns of children’s relationships with their parents and teachers, the development of these relationships during Grade 1, and respective links to children’s learning (in task persistence and performance). Parents of 350 children answered questionnaires about the quality of their relationships with their children; 25 teachers answered questions about children’s task persistence at school and the quality of their relationships with their students; 350 children completed literacy and math performance tests; and six testers evaluated children’s task persistence when completing those tests. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin, miten lasten syntymän jälkeen vammautuneet äidit rakensivat identiteettiään äiteinä vammautumisensa jälkeen. Tutkimusaineisto koostui viiden vammautuneen naisen haastatteluista, jotka analysoitiin narratiivisesti. Vammautuneiden äitien kertomuksista löytyi neljä kerronnallista jännitettä, joiden kautta he rakensivat äitiysidentiteettiään: 1) merkityksetön vai merkityksellinen elämä, 2) lapsen rakkauden menettäminen vai äidin ensisijaisen aseman säilyttäminen, 3) kyvyttömyys toimia äitinä vai äitinä selviytyminen sekä 4) riippuvaisuus lapsesta vai hoivan antajana toimiminen. Abstract This article examines the role of the media in the EU freedom of movement debate through the lens of high-circulation German and UK newspapers during the first half of 2014. It explores how the media problematised migration from Eastern European member states and its influence on national host country labour markets and welfare systems. It also analyses how different media outlets positioned themselves in relation to relevant policies or policy proposals. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin perhepäivähoito- ja päiväkoti-instituutioiden tuottamista varhaiskasvatuksesta vastaavien kunnallisten viranhaltijoiden puheessa. Tutkimus tehtiin kymmenessä suomalaisessa kunnassa, ja aineistona käytettiin teemahaastatteluja (N =42). Perhepäivähoito ja päiväkotitoiminta ymmärrettiin diskursiivisen institutionalismin näkökulmasta sosiaalisina käytäntöinä, joiden merkitykset ilmenevät ja muuttuvat varhaiskasvatuksen instituutioiden kielenkäytössä. This article focuses on infant–teacher lap interactions during this transition period. This investigation applies a relational approach to the study of infant–teacher lap interactions.
