Latvijā ar diabētu slimo vairāki tūkstoši cilvēku un lielākā daļa no viņiem slimo tieši ar 2. tipa cukura diabētu. Nepārtraukti pieaug gan saslimšanas gadījumu skaits, gan diabēta slimības izplatība. Thirteen new metabolites, including the polyoxygenated cyclohexene derivatives cleistodiendiol (1), cleistodienol B (3), cleistenechlorohydrins A (4) and B (5), cleistenediols A-F (6-11), cleistenonal (12), and the butenolide cleistanolate (13), 2,5-dihydroxybenzyl benzoate (cleistophenolide, 14), and eight known compounds (2, 15-21) were isolated from a MeOH extract of the leaves of Cleistochlamys kirkii. On the Electrostatic Component of the Adhesional Interaction between Solid Substrates and Langmuir Monolayers

The work of adhesion between Langmuir monolayers and solid surfaces in a hydrophilic Langmuir-Blodgett configuration has been measured as function of the surface charge densities σ of the contacting surfaces. It was derived from the equilibrium meniscus height which was measured with the transfer fluorescence microscope. The surface charge density of the contacting surfaces was varied by changing the subphase pH. With both surfaces negatively charged (dimyristoylphosphatidylethanolamine onto SiO2-substrates) and low charge densities (σ < 1 e−/100 A2)) we observe a decrease of the adhesion with increasing charge density. Electric Field Control of Spin-Dependent Dissipative Electron Transfer Dynamics in Mixed-Valence Molecules

We demonstrate that the borderline class II/III magnetic MV dimers, which can be referred to as single molecule multiferroics, provide a unique possibility to achieve electric field control of the electron transfer (ET) dynamics. As an example, we consider a MV dimer d2-d1 in which an extra electron is delocalized over two spin-cores (s0 = 1/2), and the ET is spin-dependent due to the double exchange mechanism. It is assumed that the “extra” electron is coupled to the only intramolecular vibration, and a weak coupling to the dissipative subsystem (thermal bath) is taken into account. La Constitución promueve la participación de los ciudadanos en los asuntos públicos a lo largo de su articulado. Así, el artículo 9.2 recoge el deber de los poderes públicos de facilitar la participación de todos los ciudadanos en la vida política, económica, cultural y social. La participación ciudadana queda elevada a la categoría de principio constitucional. Posteriormente este principio proyecta su influencia sobre los distintos ámbitos de actuación pública, tanto a nivel legislativo como administrativo y judicial, de forma que todos los ámbitos funcionales de lo público tienen reconocida en el texto constitucional una forma de participación ciudadana.

Use of poly(amidoamine) drug conjugates for the delivery of antimalarials to Plasmodium

Current malaria therapeutics demands strategies able to selectively deliver drugs to Plasmodium-infected red blood cells (pRBCs) in order to limit the appearance of parasite resistance. Here, the poly(amidoamines) AGMA1 and ISA23 have been explored for the delivery of antimalarial drugs to pRBCs. AGMA1 has antimalarial activity per se as shown by its inhibition of the in vitro growth of Plasmodium falciparum, with an IC50 of 13.7 μM.
