Fuzzy modelling of HEART methodology: application in safety analyses of accidental exposure in irradiation plants
2009
The present paper refers to the obtained results by using Fuzzy Fault Tree analyses of accidental scenarios which entail the potential exposure of operators working in irradiation industrial plants. For these analyses the HEART methodology, a first generation of the Human Reliability Analysis method, has been employed to evaluate the probability of human erroneous actions. This technique has been modified by us on the basis of fuzzy set concept to more directly take into account the uncertainties of the so called error-promoting factors, on which the method is grounded. The results allow also to provide some recommendations on procedures and safety equipments to reduce the radiological expo…
On the performances of a particle tracking detector based on triangular scintillator bars read out by silicon photomultipliers
2020
Abstract A tracking detector composed of scintillator bars with a triangular cross-section read out by silicon photomultipliers in analog mode was developed. The tracker was designed to instrument a low density spectrometer for neutrino experiments. The performance of the system has been studied by exposing it to charged particle beams at the CERN-PS. The tests have shown that the position resolution in reconstructing charged particles’ tracks is within 2.2 mm over the momentum range 0.5–10 GeV/c.
High performance detector head for PET and PET/MR with continuous crystals and SiPMs
2012
International audience; A high resolution PET detector head for small animal PET applications has been developed. The detector is composed of a 12 mm x 12 mm source continuous LYSO crystal coupled to a 64-channel monolithic SiPM matrix from FBK-irst. Crystal thicknesses of 5 mm and 10 mm have been tested, both yielding an intrinsic spatial resolution around 0.7 mm FWHM with a position determination algorithm that can also provide depth-of-interaction information. The detectors have been tested in a rotating system that makes it possible to acquire tomographic data and reconstruct images of 22Na sources. An image reconstruction method specifically adapted for continuous crystals has been emp…
Mass Analyzing Recoil Apparatus, MARA
2019
An in-flight zero-angle mass separator, MARA, has been recently constructed and commissioned at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. MARA is a double focusing device, consisting of a quadrupole driplet, electrostatic deflector, and magnetic dipole. This separator is built for nuclear structure studies to be performed around the N∼Z line and at beyond the proton drip line. peerReviewed
Simulations of the stopping efficiencies of fission ion guides
2017
With the Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line (IGISOL) facility, located at the University of Jyväskylä, products of nuclear reactions are separated by mass. The high resolving power of the JYFLTRAP Penning trap, with full separation of individual nuclides, capacitates the study of nuclides far from the line of stability. For the production of neutron-rich medium-heavy nuclides, fissioning of actinides is a feasible reaction. This can be achieved with protons from an in-house accelerator or, alternatively, with neutrons through the addition of a newly developed Be(p,xn)-converter. The hereby-obtained fission products are used in nuclear data measurements, for example fission yields, nuclear …
Antineoplastic agents and the use of personal protective equipment: nursing staff awareness
2020
Introduction. Along with an increasing number of cancer patients, the need for cytostatic drugs is also increasing. Nursing staff are the largest professional group exposed to the potential dangers of these substances. Aim of the study. Assess the awareness of nursing staff who have direct contact with cytostatic drugs in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Material and methods. The research group consisted of 101 nurses routinely exposed to cytostatic drugs. A diagnostic survey and questionnaire technique were used along with the author’s original questionnaire. Results. Of the respondents, 58.42% (n=59) never used protective shoes while dealing with cytostatics, while 53.4% (n…
Self-phase modulation-based 2R regenerator including pulse compression and offset filtering for 42.6 Gbit/s RZ-33% transmission systems
2009
International audience; We report on the experimental and theoretical study of a self-phase-modulation-based regenerator at 42.6 Gbit/s with a return-to-zero 33% format. We point out some detrimental effects such as intrachannel interactions and Brillouin scattering. An efficient solution, relying on a self-phase-modulation-based pulse compressor in combination with the regenerator, is proposed to overcome these detrimental phenomena. The experimental demonstration shows the effectiveness of a wavelength-transparent regenerator at 42.6 Gbit/s with a sensitivity-improvement of more than 5 dB and an eye-opening improvement of 2.3 dB in a back-to-back configuration, as well as a 10 times maxim…
Versuche zur Herstellung linolsäurearmen Ölsäureesters mit Rhodium‐Zinn‐Komplexen als Katalysatoren
1978
The Preparation of Oleic Acid Ester with Reduced Linoleic Acid Content by Use of Rhodium-Tin Complexes as Catalysts The linoleic acid methylester can be oligomerized selectively in the presence of a high excess of oleic acid ester with rhodium complexes and metalorganic tin compounds as catalyst. The isomerisation of the oleic acid ester can be inhibited by the choice of a suitable tin compound.
First Nationwide Molecular Screening Program in Spain for Patients With Advanced Breast Cancer: Results From the AGATA SOLTI-1301 Study
2021
Anàlisi de seqüències d'ADN; Subtipus PAM50; Genètica molecular Análisis de secuencias de ADN; Subtipo PAM50; Genética molecular DNA sequence analyses; PAM50 subtype; Molecular genetic Background: The SOLTI-1301 AGATA study aimed to assess the feasibility of a multi-institutional molecular screening program to better characterize the genomic landscape of advanced breast cancer (ABC) and to facilitate patient access to matched-targeted therapies in Spain. Methods: DNA sequencing of 74 cancer-related genes was performed using FFPE tumor samples in three different laboratories with three different gene panels. A multidisciplinary advisory board prospectively recommended potential targeted trea…
