1987. El Congreso Internacional de Intelectuales y Artista. Valencia, 15-20 junio 1987

2006

1987. El Congreso Internacional de Intelectuales y Artista. Valencia, 15-20 junio 1987.

Teorētiskā daļa sastāv no trijām nodaļām.

The ACM property for unions of lines in P1×P2

2021

This paper examines the Arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM) property for certain codimension 2 varieties in P1×P2 called sets of lines in P1×P2 (not necessarily reduced). We discuss some obstacles to finding a general characterization. We then consider certain classes of such curves, and we address two questions. First, when are they themselves ACM? Second, in a non-ACM reduced configuration, is it possible to replace one component of a primary (prime) decomposition by a suitable power (i.e. to “fatten” one line) to make the resulting scheme ACM? Finally, for our classes of such curves, we characterize the locally Cohen-Macaulay property in combinatorial terms by introducing the definition …

Characterization of Membrane-Bound Cyclic Nucleotide Phosphodiesterases from Bovine Aortic Smooth Muscle

1992

This study reports the isolation and characterization of cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases (PDEs) associated with membrane fraction in comparison to cytosolic forms from bovine aorta. DEAE-Sephacel chromatography of a solubilized membrane fraction from a homogenate, prepared under isotonic conditions in the presence of protease inhibitors, yielded one major peak of PDE activity that specifically hydrolyzed cAMP and was not stimulated by calmodulin: It appeared to contain two subtypes of PDE. The first subtype belonged to the cyclic GMP (cGMP)-inhibited PDE family, (PDE III): It had an apparent Km value of 0.4 microM and was potently inhibited by cGMP, LY186126, and cilostamide. The secon…

The discursive legitimation strategies of a nascent market

2017

Since the introduction of Gold&Green Foods Ltd’s Pulled Oats (Nyhtökaura) to the Finnish market in the spring 2016, the Finnish media has been increasingly reviewing different plant-based protein products. Gold&Green Ltd’s Pulled Oats has experienced extensive media coverage amongst other Finnish plant-based protein products which have been launched during 2016 such as VersoFood Ltd’s Härkis, Viipurilainen Kotileipomo’s Puhtikaura etc. It has yet to be seen whether the sudden inception of several plant-based protein product innovations will be defined as a pivotal era in the Finnish food industry or just a passing trend. Finnish media has aldo categorized MiFu as one of the up and coming fo…

The PAPIA system

1991

In 1983 an Italian research program was begun for the design, simulation and construction of a multiprocessor image processing system. After a first phase devoted to the comparison of suggested and existing systems and to the definition of a set of benchmarks, a new system was defined. The structure of this new system is introduced here: it is based on a fine-grained pyramid of processors built up by means of a pyramidal cell implemented on a VLSI multiprocessor chip. The peculiarities and the capabilities of the processing element are highlighted. The complete hardware and software system has been fully designed and is described. A first working prototype has been built and is now operatio…

Extended-Spectrum ß-Lactamase, AmpC-Producing, and Fluoroquinolone-Resistant Escherichia coli in Retail Broiler Chicken Meat, Italy.

2015

Background: Globally, antimicrobial drug-resistant Escherichia coli is among the most common etiological agents of invasive disease in humans. In Europe, increasing proportions of infections due to third-generation cephalosporins and/or fluoroquinolone-resistant extraintestinal pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) strains are reported. E. coli from poultry are those more closely linked to human E. coli, but lack of reliable data makes it difficult to assess the attributable risk of different food sources. In the present study, our objective was to investigate the antimicrobial resistance profile, phylogenetic background, and virulence factors of E. coli isolates from broiler chicken meat sold at reta…

Occurrence of selected antibiotics and antiretroviral drugs in Nairobi River Basin, Kenya.

2015

In this paper, we investigated the occurrence of three antibiotics (sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim and ciprofloxacin) and three antiretroviral (lamivudine, nevirapine and zidovudine) drugs in the Nairobi River Basin, Kenya. The analytical procedure involved extraction using solid phase extraction followed by liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (SPE-LC-ESI-MS/MS). In this study, 40 sites were selected for sampling, including 38 sites along the rivers and 2 wastewater treatment effluent sites. All the studied compounds were detected with sulfamethoxazole having the highest detection frequency of 97.5% and ciprofloxacin had the lowest at 60%. The results show…
