Systematic derivation of partial differential equations for second order boundary value problems

Software systems designed to solve second order boundary value problems are typically restricted to hardwired lists of partial differential equations. In order to come up with more flexible systems, we introduce a systematic approach to find partial differential equations that result in eligible boundary value problems. This enables one to construct and combine one's own partial differential equations instead of choosing those from a pre-given list. This expands significantly end users possibilities to employ boundary value problems in modeling. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1928 provided three types of jurisdiction: material, topical and functional. In general, legal solutions adopted in the Code including provisions on material jurisdiction should be viewed positively. The regulations covered all the cases the Polish courts could hypothetically come across in practice, procedurally solving many issues connected with it. The most important cases included: the invalidity of judgments issued by the improper court, the jurisdiction of the magistrates courts, the determination of the topical jurisdiction of the courts, the aggregate consideration of cases, and resolving conflicts of jurisdiction between common and military courts.…

L’articolo si occupa del rapporto tra determinazione amministrativa e giurisdizione. Si tratta di un rapporto generalmente risolto attraverso il tradizionale criterio di riparto, basato sulla distinzione tra carenza di potere e cattivo esercizio dello stesso. Viceversa, si vuole ipotizzare di risolvere il rapporto medesimo attraverso un diverso criterio, basato sulla natura discrezionale del potere, dinanzi al quale la situazione soggettiva del privato è qualificabile come interesse legittimo. Il presupposto è che la discrezionalità costituisce l’essenza del potere e della determinazione amministrativa ed è idonea a fondare la giurisdizione del giudice amministrativo.

Immediate or delayed retrieval of the displaced third molar: A review

Background The displacement of a third molar is a rare occurrence, but it could lead to serious and/or life threatening complication. Aim of this review is to understand the most correlated causes of displacement and the possible solutions proposed in literature to avoid and solve this complication for maxillary and mandibular third molars at the appropriate time. Material and methods A search for "third molar displacement" was performed by using Pubmed database. Articles referred to soft tissues displacement, from 1957 to 2018, were included in the review. Application of a Bayesian Spatiotemporal Surveillance Method to NYC Syndromic Data

Incorporating prior knowledge (e.g., the spatial distribution of zip codes and background population effects) into a model using Bayesian methods could potentially improve outbreak detection. We adapted a previously described Bayesian model-based spatiotemporal surveillance technique to daily respiratory syndrome counts in NYC Emergency Department data in 2009, the year of the H1N1 influenza pandemic. Citywide, 56 alarms were produced across 15 zip codes, all during days of elevated respiratory visits. Future work includes evaluating our choice of baseline length, considering other alarm thresholds, and conducting a formal evaluation of the method across five syndromes in NYC.
Inf-sup conditions on convex cones and applications to limit load analysis

The paper is devoted to a family of specific inf–sup conditions generated by tensor-valued functions on convex cones. First, we discuss the validity of such conditions and estimate the value of the respective constant. Then, the results are used to derive estimates of the distance to dual cones, which are required in the analysis of limit loads of perfectly plastic structures. The equivalence between the static and kinematic approaches to limit analysis is proven and computable majorants of the limit load are derived. Particular interest is paid to the Drucker–Prager yield criterion. The last section exposes a collection of numerical examples including basic geotechnical stability problems.…
