Participation in Social Media: Studying Explicit and Implicit Forms of Participation in Communicative Social Networks

The diverse forms of participation in social media raise many methodological and ethical issues that should be acknowledged in research. In this paper, participation in social media is studied by utilising the framework of explicit and implicit participation. The focus is on the communicative and communal aspects of social media. The aim of the paper is to promote the reconsideration of what constitutes participation when online users create connections rather than content. The underlying argument is that research on social media and the development of methods should concentrate more on implicit forms of participation.

Esta tesis doctoral consiste en una edición crítica de los Ethicorum Libri III (Valencia, 1816) escritos por el erudito valenciano Mariano Madramany y Calatayud, acompañada de una traducción al español y de notas explicativas. En la introducción se da detallada cuenta de la biografía de Madramany a partir de la consulta de la documentación de archivos, y se repasa el conjunto de su producción escrita, prestando especial atención a los contenidos, las estructuras y las fuentes de los Ethicorum. This chapter focuses on translingual quoting (TQ), i.e. the subprocess of news-writing by which utterances from sources are both quoted and translated. Analyses of journalists’ mental and material activities suggest conceptualizing TQ as a complex and dynamic activity in which journalists’ individual and collective (e.g., institutional) language awareness, knowledge, and practices interact with multi-layered contexts of text production. Pēdējos gados augusi interese par materiāliem ar topoloģiskā izolatora (TI) īpašībām. TI ir tilpumā nevadoši, bet to virsmai piemīt metāliskas īpašības. Lielākā daļa TI ir labi termoelektriski (TE) materiāli istabas temperatūrā. Lai panāktu to, ka virsmas vadītspēja ir dominējoša, vajadzīgs nomākt tilpuma vadītspēju, kas rodas no defektiem. Pirmkārt, tilpuma vadītspēju var samazināt, samazinot vismaz vienu no TI struktūras dimensijām līdz nanoizmēram, kas būtiski palielina virsmas – tilpuma attiecību, kā arī veicot materiāla vakanču kompensējošu leģēšanu. Radiotherapy, when used in head and neck cancer treatment, can produce side effects in the patients, such as decreased salivary production, xerostomia, opportunistic infections, radiation caries, dysphagia, local discomfort and the limitation of mouth opening. The aim of this study was to evaluate the amplitude of mouth opening in patients before and immediately after the completion of radiotherapy, comparing the effectiveness of two physiotherapy exercises.
