Assessing reading and online research comprehension: Do difficulties in attention and executive function matter?

This study evaluated the relation between sixth graders' (N = 426) teacher-rated difficulties in attention and executive function (EF) and their comprehension skills. Reading comprehension was assessed with a multiple-choice task and online research and comprehension (ORC) with a problem-solving task. The analyses were controlled for gender, reading fluency and nonverbal reasoning. To investigate differences in students' performance between the tasks, comprehension skills in the multiple-choice task were also controlled for in the ORC task. Online shopping addiction can be defined as an Internet-based behavioural addiction which may lead to economic problems. Even though shopping is increasingly common through mobile devices, the effects of smartphone use on online shopping addiction are underexamined. Following a survey of 1000 18 to 29-year-olds in Finland, we examined young adults' online shopping addiction and economic problems from the perspective of self-regulation and problems in regulating smartphone use. Thirty-one samples of Coriandrum sativum L. fruits, of different origin, year of cultivation (harvest) and crop management systems were subjected to volatile component analysis by combining Head Space Solid Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) with GC/MS. In order to determine the importance of the major sources of volatile variability, some statistical analyses, including Cluster Analysis (CA) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), were performed on the obtained data. Bakalaura darba temats ir bibliotēku pasākumu bērniem no dzimšanas līdz divu gadu vecumam, pieprasījums un piedāvājums. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot pieprasījumu pēc pasākumiem bibliotēkās ģimenēm ar bērniem no dzimšanas līdz divu gadu vecumam, kā arī bibliotēku piedāvājumu. Bakalaura darbs ir balstīts uz Erika Eriksona psihosociālo attīstības un empīrisma teoriju. En este artículo se analiza la percepción pública de seis importantes divulgadores españoles de la ciencia. Para ello se ha realizado una encuesta entre los profesionales de la difusión de la ciencia, y a través de diferentes bloques de preguntas se ha buscado conocer su opinión sobre la tarea de divulgación llevada a cabo por Eduard Punset, Juan Luis Arsuaga, Manuel Toharia, Jorge Wagensberg, Ramon Folch y Javier Sampedro.
