Herbicidal activity of phosphonic, phosphinic, and phosphonous acid analogues of phenylglycine and phenylalanine

A series of phosphonic, phosphinic, and phosphonous acid analogues of phenylglycine and phenylalanine was synthesized and tested as herbicides against Lepidium sativum and Cucumis sativus. Aminobenzylphosphonic acids exhibited notable herbicidal activity and thus represent a group of the most active herbicides found among aminophosphonic acids.
The management of crop-livestock systems at a territory level: the example of grain legume crops and of monogastric livestock in Burgundy, France

Although cereals and oil seed crops are very developed in Burgundy, the area of grain legumes cultivation is small. Concerning monogastric livestock, the region is characterised by a medium size poultry production focussed on markets under quality and origin signs (SIQO) and a relatively small pig production. Although a tendency of co-location of these productions can be observed (at territory and farm scales) and some animals consume locally-produced proteins, there is no strong functional link between these crops and animal activities. A political movement initiated in Mexico known as Zapatism is analysed through the visual objects displayed in their websites on the Internet. The objective is to make a cultural analysis and interpretation of the visual representation of Zapatistas websites, to expose their visual identity through the most salient visual signs and their corresponding cultural meanings. The analytical method introduced in this study is divided in three major aims: consolidating a pool of images retrieved from Zapatistas websites, finding patterns of visual elements within these images, and providing an interpretation for the visual signs emerging from such patterns. The Effect of Halogen Bonding on the Packing of Bromine Substituted Pyridine and Benzyl Functionalized Resorcinarene Tetrapodands in the Solid State

The synthesis and characterization of new bromine-substituted pyridine and benzyl functionalized tetramethoxy resorcinarene tetrapodands are described and their solid-state structural properties and interactions were studied by single crystal X-ray crystallography. Three different crystal structures were obtained for the pyridine derivative and one for the benzyl derivative, which revealed that the interactions of the bromine substituent have an explicit effect on the crystal packing of the resorcinarene molecules.
