"Ut pictura poiesis": text i imatge, mimesi i realitat quant a «Tirant lo Blanch»
2007
The relationship between literature and reality in the Middle Ages can be considered from several dimensions. One of the most important cultural elements of the medieval period is the visual representation of reality found it literary texts, not only through the presence of miniatures in the manuscripts, but especially through the description of realia in the same text. The encyclopedic tradition helps to intertwine this close relationship between the outer representativeness and the inwardness of the text, a new interpretation of the Horacian’s ut pictura poiesis. The «Tirant lo Blanch» is a fictional text full of iconic references to contemporary reality, which in this study are made clea…
Aspectes formals de les preposicions en català
1995
Studies on the prepositional category generally cover its syntactic and semantic aspects. Phonological aspects are usually reflected in a peripheral way. In this article we propose to study some of the phonic features of Catalan prepositions from the point of view of Cognitive Grammar, and try to establish to what extent these are exclusively phonological facts. Specifically, we shall study the atonicity of the most prototypical prepositions, the exceptional accentuation of prepositions, the so-called contractions of prepositions and articles, and the a/e and a/ad alternations in Northern Catalan and colloquial Valencian, respectively.
Multiplex Amplicon Quantification (MAQ), a fast and efficient method for the simultaneous detection of copy number alterations in neuroblastoma
2010
Abstract Background Cancer genomes display characteristic patterns of chromosomal imbalances, often with diagnostic and prognostic relevance. Therefore assays for genome-wide copy number screening and simultaneous detection of copy number alterations in specific chromosomal regions are of increasing importance in the diagnostic work-up of tumors. Results We tested the performance of Multiplex Amplicon Quantification, a newly developed low-cost, closed-tube and high-throughput PCR-based technique for detection of copy number alterations in regions with prognostic relevance for neuroblastoma. Comparison with array CGH and the established Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification method…
STRATIFICATION TECHNIQUE OF A NANOCOMPOSITE USING THE SILICON GUIDE
2015
At present, the stratification technique of composite materials, known as offering most predictable, both functional and aesthetic results, uses a silicone reference quide. This allows the dentist to appreciate the size and thickness of the composite resin layer to be applied, as well as selection of the opacity and translucidity degree according to the reconstructed enamel or dentin structure, thus facilitating the stratification of materials. The minimum adjustment, at the level of the palatal wall, represents another great advantage of the silicone key.
Surface Morphology of Single and Multi-Layer Silicon Nitride Dielectric Nano-Coatings on Silicon Dioxide and Polycrystalline Silicon
2019
Silicon nitride (Si3N4) in a form of single and multi-layer nanofilms is proposed to be used as a dielectric layer in nanocapacitors for operation in harsh environmental conditions. Characterization of surface morphology, roughness and chemical bonds of the Si3N4 coatings has an important role in production process as the surface morphology affects the contact surface with other components of the produced device. Si3N4 was synthesized by using low pressure chemical vapour deposition method and depositing single and multi-layer (3 – 5 layers) nanofilms on SiO2 and polycrystalline silicon (PolySi). The total thickness of the synthesized nanofilms was 20 – 60 nm. Surface morphology was investi…
Application of Ge Nanowire for Two-Input Bistable Nanoelectromechanical Switch
2013
Recently, several research groups presented bistable two-terminal nanoelectromechanical switches based on individual single-clamped active element. All presented devices had one input electrode. Similar devices having two or more input electrodes have not been yet investigated. In this work we present the two-input bistable controlled nanoelectromechanical switch based on an individual single-clamped Ge nanowire. The switch is realised using in-situ SEM technique and operating due to balancing of electrostatic, adhesion and elastic forces. The operation conditions of the device are investigated and presented. The advantages and drawbacks of the device are discussed. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/1…
Antibiotic susceptibility of the bacteria causing odontogenic infections
2006
Fluorescent Biosensors Based on Silicon Nanowires
2021
Nanostructures are arising as novel biosensing platforms promising to surpass current performance in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, and affordability of standard approaches. However, for several nanosensors, the material and synthesis used make the industrial transfer of such technologies complex. Silicon nanowires (NWs) are compatible with Si-based flat architecture fabrication and arise as a hopeful solution to couple their interesting physical properties and surface-to-volume ratio to an easy commercial transfer. Among all the transduction methods, fluorescent probes and sensors emerge as some of the most used approaches thanks to their easy data interpretation, measure affordability…
Experimental evidence for a liquid-liquid crossover in deeply cooled confined water.
2014
International audience; In this work we investigate, by means of elastic neutron scattering, the pressure dependence of mean square displacements (MSD) of hydrogen atoms of deeply cooled water confined in the pores of a three-dimensional disordered SiO 2 xerogel; experiments have been performed at 250 and 210 K from atmospheric pressure to 1200 bar. The " pressure anomaly " of supercooled water (i.e., a mean square displacement increase with increasing pressure) is observed in our sample at both temperatures; however, contrary to previous simulation results and to the experimental trend observed in bulk water, the pressure effect is smaller at lower (210 K) than at higher (250 K) temperatur…
The boson peak of deeply cooled confined water reveals the existence of a low-temperature liquid-liquid crossover.
2014
International audience; The Boson peak of deeply cooled water confined in the pores of a silica xerogel is studied by inelastic neutron scattering at different hydration levels to separate the contributions from matrix, water on the pore surfaces and "internal" water. Our results reveal that at high hydration level, where the contribution from internal water is dominant, the temperature dependence of the Boson peak intensity shows an inflection point at about 225 K. The complementary use of differential scanning calorimetry to describe the thermodynamics of the system allows identifying the inflection point as the signature of a water liquid-liquid crossover.
