Anos se passaram e os cerimoniais congelaram sua face repetitiva, codificada, tediosa. A José Antonio lhe corresponden tão somente a aflição ritual do 20 de novembro, solitária data em que a dor, ou sua coreografia, se rememorava. Em 1959, o cenário, porém, ganhou algo a mais: mudou do El Escorial para o Valle de los Caídos. Mais tarde, teve lugar a última farsa, o último furto. Era 20 de novembro de 1975. E o sepultado corpo de Franco extraiu de si a energía suficiente para arrebatar de José Antonio o único ritual que lhe restava desde 1938. A partir de entao, o 20 de novembro seria recordado pela morte do ditador. Recordado ou talvez prontamente sepultado pelo esquecimento.

Lembro-me de momentos felizes, no nosso apartamento do Rio, na Equitativa, em Santa Teresa: os raios do sol que, das janelas, batiam nas paredes brancas, numa atmosfera ao mesmo tempo fresca e quente; eu desenhando em papéis, paredes, capas de LPs, quadro negro, cada traço representando para mim uma primeira idéia de luto, pois sabia que estes desenhos desapareceriam logo e para sempre.

Internal photoemission in solar blind AlGaN Schottky barrier photodiodes

We have analyzed the photoresponse of solar blind AlGaN Schottky barrier photodiodes below the alloy band gap energy, in the 3.5-4.5 eV range, and we show that it is dominated by internal photoemission. The n-type Schottky barrier height is shown to increase linearly with the band gap energy of the AlGaN alloy. The amplitude of the internal photoemission signal is about 20 times smaller than the value given by the Fowler theory based on a free electron model. We explain this result by taking into account the interband transitions and the ballistic transport of photoexcited electrons in the metal. How does graphene enhance the photoelectric conversion efficiency of dye sensitized solar cells? An insight from a theoretical perspective

The main goal of this work is to clearly answer the question from a theoretical perspective: how does graphene enhance the photoelectric conversion efficiency in the semiconducting layer of a dye sensitized solar cell? Several arrangements of the graphene layer between the dye molecule and the TiO2 (101) surface are carefully studied and discussed. The dynamic interfacial electron propagations are simulated with consideration of the underlying nuclear motion effect. Theoretical investigation shows that graphene can speed up the electron injection from the dye molecules to the semiconductor layer, only when the graphene sheet is bonded to the TiO2 surface via C–Ti bonds. PCBM is a fullerene derivative (phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester) considered to be one of the best n-type organic semiconductors and plays a relevant role in organic photovoltaic solar cells. Much effort has been devoted to the optimization of the synthesis of PCBM derivatives. In this paper, PC61BM and PC71BM fullerene mono-adducts but also PCBM-like derivatives are successfully prepared by a one- step cyclopropanation reaction under microwave irradiation. Thermodynamic studies have shown that the buckminsterfullerene structure of Si6o is much more stable than other suggested structures. Iconic environments intend to provide expressive tools to implement, to debug and to execute programs. Moreover its pictorial constructs guide the user to design algorithms in an interactive fashion. Visual interfaces are especially required whenever programs run on an heterogeneous and reconfigurable multiprocessor system oriented to image analysis. Pictorial tools help the user to control the scope of variables, and the distribution of the tasks into the processors. Rapid PCR-based test for identifying Candida albicans by using primers derived from the pH-regulated KER1 gene.

A PCR-based method in combination with a simple, reliable and inexpensive DNA extraction procedure for rapid detection of Candida albicans clinical isolates is described here. The extraction protocol is based on a combination of chemical (NaOH and detergents) and physical (boiling) treatments, thus avoiding many of the problems inherent in the currently available DNA extraction protocols (basically the use of expensive and/or toxic chemical reagents), and may be useful for daily clinical routine. The PCR-based system described here uses a single pair of primers (SC1F and SC1R) deduced from the C. albicans-specific KER1 gene sequence. These primers amplify a 670-bp fragment of the KER1 gene.…
