A challenges for learning from animated diagrams is to first parse the continuous flow of information into discrete event units. Inadequacies in this parsing process can prejudice the quality of the mental model constructed from the depiction. One approach that has been proposed for ameliorating such problems is for the designer to pre-segment the animation. However, the pre-segmentation techniques used tend to be either intuitive or based on an expert's understanding of the subject matter. Types of Moving Averages

This chapter presents a detailed review of all ordinary types of moving averages, as well as some exotic types of moving averages. These exotic moving averages include moving averages of moving averages and mixed moving averages with less average lag time. For the majority of moving averages, this chapter computes the closed-form solutions for the average lag time and smoothness. This chapter also demonstrates that the average lag time of a moving average can easily be manipulated; therefore the notion of the average lag time has very little to do with the delay time in the identification of turning points in a price trend.

In the study of the Social Networks, the Small World phenomenon appears frequently. We apply some techniques of graph theory and fuzzy sets to characterize the Small World features as well as the existence of the figure of leader in Social Networks. These techniques help to the conceptual formalization in relational networks analysis, by transforming linguistic and human-focused manner concepts related to social networks in some formal representation. These techniques are also applied when the similarity among nodes wants to be measured in order to study the current homophily present in a Network.

Dual types of hypotheses in inductive inference

Several well-known inductive inference strategies change the actual hypothesis only when they discover that it “provably misclassifies” an example seen so far. This notion is made mathematically precise and its general power is characterized. In spite of its strength it is shown that this approach is not of “universal” power. Consequently, then hypotheses are considered which “unprovably misclassify” examples and the properties of this approach are studied.
