Run-time scalable NoC for FPGA based virtualized IPs
2017
The integration of virtualized FPGA-based hardware accelerators in a cloud computing is progressing from time to time. As the FPGA has limited resources, the dynamic partial reconfiguration capability of the FPGA is considered to share resources among different virtualized IPs during runtime. On the other hand, the NoC is a promising solution for communication among virtualized FPGA-based IPs. However, not all the virtualized regions of the FPGA will be active all the time. When there is no demand for virtualized IPs, the virtualized regions are loaded with blank bitstreams to save power. However, keeping active the idle components of the NoC connecting with the idle virtualized regions is …
Novel Insights Into Gas Embolism in Sea Turtles: First Description in Three New Species
2020
The recent finding of gas embolism and decompression sickness in loggerhead sea turtles (Caretta caretta) in the Mediterranean Sea challenged the conventional understanding of marine vertebrate diving physiology. Additionally, it brought to light a previously unknown source of mortality associated with fisheries bycatch for this vulnerable species. In this paper, we use ultrasonography to describe gas embolism in a leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) and an olive ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) from accidental capture in a gillnet, bottom trawl and pair-bottom trawl respectively. This is the first description of this condition in thes…
A Guaranteed performance of a green data center based on the contribution of vital nodes
2016
International audience; In order to satisfy the need for the critical computing resources, many data center architectures proposed to house a huge number of network devices. These devices are used to achieve the highest performance in case of full utilization of the network. However, the peak capacity of the network is rarely reached. Consequently, many devices are set into idle state and cause a huge energy waste leading to a non-proportionality between the network load and the energy consumed. In this paper, we propose a power-aware routing algorithm that saves energy consumption with a negligible trade-off on the performance of the network. The idea is to keep active only the source and …
Study on Improving the Functional Performance of Linear Motion Systems
2015
In the construction of high performance mechanical transmission with high precision in movement and positioning are used ball screws with preloaded double nuts. Among the factors that influence the performance of these transmissions are friction idle torque and friction load torque. Because, theoretically, the friction idle torque is influenced only by the preload force that loading, the double nut of the ball screw, was experimentally determined dependence of that torque of screw speed. Given the set was determined and exposed in the present work, the relation of dependency, idle friction torque, preload force and screw speed. From the relationship thus obtained can determine the instantan…
Some complexity and approximation results for coupled-tasks scheduling problem according to topology
2016
International audience; We consider the makespan minimization coupled-tasks problem in presence of compatibility constraints with a specified topology. In particular, we focus on stretched coupled-tasks, i.e. coupled-tasks having the same sub-tasks execution time and idle time duration. We study several problems in framework of classic complexity and approximation for which the compatibility graph is bipartite (star, chain,. . .). In such a context, we design some efficient polynomial-time approximation algorithms for an intractable scheduling problem according to some parameters.
En kartlegging av teknologiske hjelpemidler til personer med nyoppdaget demens
2014
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet i Agder 2014 The main objective of the national program of welfare technology is that welfaretechnological solutions will be an integrated part of the health and care services within 2020.Several projects in this program will include safety packages. Before technological tools areimplemented, a survey regarding the needs and challenges should be conducted. The presentstudy has focused on people with dementia and their relatives, because in 2040, the number ofpeople with dementia is expected to double.Welfare technological solutions can be divided into three parts: fall, isolation, and cognitiveimpairment. Thus, the current st…
Two stage magnetic ordering and spin idle behavior of the coordination polymer Co3(OH)2(C4O4)2·3H2O determined using neutron diffraction.
2011
We report the magnetic structure of two of the magnetically ordered phases of Co(3)(OH)(2)(C(4)O(4))(2)·3H(2)O, a coordination polymer that consists of a triangular framework decorated with anisotropic Co(II) ions. The combination of neutron diffraction experiments and magnetic susceptibility data allows us to identify one phase as displaying spin idle behavior, where only a fraction of the moments order at intermediate temperatures, while at the lowest temperatures the system orders fully. This novel magnetic behavior is discussed within the framework of a simple Hamiltonian and representational analysis and rationalizes this multiphase behavior by considering the combination of frustratio…
Idle minds are the devil's tools? Coping, depressed mood and divergent thinking in older adults.
2017
The main aim was to test a causal relations model of the problem-focused and emotion-focused coping styles, depressed mood, and divergent thinking (DT) in older adults. It was hypothesized that both forms of coping would have a significant effect on predicting depressed mood, and that problem-focused coping and depressed mood would have a significant effect on DT.Participants were 135 subjects with ages ranging between 55 and 84 years old, who took part in a personal interview and filled out several questionnaires. The statistical analysis included structural equations models (SEM).The initial model led to a final model endorsed by the goodness of fit, composite reliability, and discriminan…
Occurrence of Kemp's ridley sea turtle ( Lepidochelys kempii) in the Mediterranean
2008
Recent reports of Kemp's ridley sea turtle (Lepidochelys kempii) in the Western Mediterranean calls for a re-assessment of the relative importance and the presence of this species in this sea. Different hypotheses to account for the increase in reports are discussed. The present note provides a new report of the species, a juvenile of 28 cm curved carapace length caught close to Valencia (east Spain) on 16 July 2006. Conservation measures in the area should consider this species in the near future.
New records of Lepidochelys olivacea (Eschscholtz, 1829) (Testudines, Cheloniidae) provide evidence that Uruguayan waters are the southernmost limit …
2017
We report 8 new records of Lepidochelys olivacea marine turtle in the Uruguayan waters, indicating this area as the southernmost limit of distribution for this species in the western Atlantic Ocean. In addition, 1 specimen was subjected to genetic analysis, revealing its population origin in the western Atlantic nesting colonies (Surinam, French Guiana, and Brazil). This report represents an update of the distribution of L. olivacea in the southwestern Atlantic and provides insight into the morphological and genetic characterization of the species at temperate waters.
