A total number of 624 players took part in this study, from 16 out of 18 different regions in Norway and the players were considered the most…

Master's thesis in Sports science (ME517) Previous studies on enjoyment in sport have shown that the term leads to increased motivation and continued participation in organized sport. Research has also demonstrated that enjoyment in sport can be experienced from different sources. Based on these findings, the purpose of this study was to continue the research on the subject by conducting a summary of the existing literature. The research question that framed this study was to investigate what the literature has found about enjoyment in children's and youth sports in the timeframe 1980 to 2020. 2017
Masteroppgave idrettsvitenskap ME517 - Universitetet i Agder 2017 The purpose of this thesis is to identify performance-enhancing factors amongst twins in elite sport. It is well documented that the familial context plays a role in sporting activity and development, but there is little research on how siblings and twins interact with achievement progress in sports. The informants were six Norwegian women, all twins, between 26 and 36 years of age, where everyone is or has been on a high international level in women's handball. Several of the performers are merited, with titles at both club and international level, through participation in the Champions League, European Championships, World …

The healthy body image (HBI) intervention: Effects of a school-based cluster-randomized controlled trial with 12-months follow-up
2019
Published by Elsevier Ltd. Under a Creative Commons license We examined the effects of the Healthy Body Image (HBI) intervention on positive embodiment and health-related quality of life among Norwegian high school students. Data were collected at baseline, post-intervention, 3- and 12-months follow-up, and analysed using linear mixed regression models. The HBI in…
Should we individualize training based on force-velocity profiling to improve physical performance in athletes?
2021
The present study aimed to examine the effectiveness of an individualized training program based on force-velocity (FV) profiling on jumping, sprinting, strength, and power in athletes. Forty national level team sport athletes (20 ± 4years, 83 ± 13 kg) from ice-hockey, handball, and soccer completed a 10-week training intervention. A theoretical optimal squat jump (SJ)-FV-profile was calculated from SJ with five different loads (0, 20, 40, 60, and 80 kg). Based on their initial FV-profile, athletes were randomized to train toward, away, or irrespective (balanced training) of their initial theoretical optimal FV-profile. The training content was matched between groups in terms of set x repet…
Navigating the care between two distinct cultures: a qualitative study of the experiences of Arabic-speaking immigrants in Norwegian hospitals
2021
Abstract Background During the past decades, there has been an increase in the number of immigrants to European and Scandinavian countries. This has challenged the health-care systems, which cater to the needs of patients despite their cultural and linguistic barriers, in these countries. Most studies on this topic have focused on the perspectives of health-care providers in delivering their service. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore how hospitalized Arabic-speaking patients experienced their interaction with the Norwegian health-care system. Methods In-depth interviews with 20 participants and researcher’s participant observation were conducted to explore the idiosyncrat…
Energy balance during outdoor education winter training: a pilot study
2023
Learning in the mountains during winter prepares upcoming guides for tough environments by placing demands on their energy intake and enabling them to cope with a complex environment. However, few studies have explored energy intake and expenditure in outdoor education. Thus, energy intake during a 24-hour winter mountain course was investigated in a Norwegian educational context, where students must absorb large volumes of information in a challenging environment. Twenty university students (11 men, 9 women) underwent body composition, weighed energy intake, and accelerometry-based energy expenditure measurements. Overall, the students had an energy deficit of>2,300 kilo-calories/day, corr…
