Essential oils of Chiliadenus lopadusanus (Asteraceae).

The essential oils from the leaves and flowers of Chiliadenus lopadusanus growing on Lampedusa Island were obtained by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC-MS. The major component was camphor (39.4% in the leaves and 24.0% in the flowers), followed in the leaves by torreyol (6.7%), t-cadinol (5.2%) and 1,8-cineole (3.8%), while in the flowers by t-cadinol (15.2%), t-muurolol (5.1%) and torreyol (4.5%). Among the compounds identified, several seem to play a role in antibacterial, antifungal, allelopathic and spasmolytic activity. Il linguaggio è un’alternativa alla violenza o un suo strumento? Mettendo in discussione la separazione tra violenza verbale e violenza fisica, il libro mette a fuoco il rapporto che lega linguaggio, violenza e natura umana, nel contesto della madre di tutte le guerre, quella combattuta a Troia e raccontata nell’Iliade, dove armi e parole concorrono a realizzare una violenza distruttiva. Le vicende narrate nel poema omerico diventano allora casi esemplari, utili a illustrare il potere che il linguaggio ha di inaugurare nuove forme di violenza esclusive dell’animale che parla.
Cannibalismo e antropopoiesi nella poesia iliadica

Il contributo individua nel desiderio di cannibalismo una strategia di rappresentazione della violenza estrema nel poema dell'Iliade, che pone chi la esercita al di fuori dell'umano. In tal modo per converso il cannibalismo si rivela dispositivo antropopoietico in quanto costruisce modelli di umanità.

The issue of this paper is the ingroup verbal violence. The theoretical framework is the “rhetoric of dissensus”, a perspective which aims to understand the role and the modalities of polemical discourse in our argumentation practice. Using the Iliad as a paradigmatic case study, the paper mainly analyses cases where the ingroup verbal assault aims to encourage and incite violence. The analysis focuses on the perlocutionary effect of these speech acts.

Verbal violence is a complex phenomenon that language theory cannot ignore. This paper mainly aims to show that verbal assault and bodily harm are contiguous. The basic idea is that, in order to undersand this phenomenon, we need to consider language as strictly interwoven with other human activities. Using the Iliad as a paradigmatic case study, the paper focuses on two different types of conflict where words play an important role: the armed duel and the quarrel between Achilles and Agammenon.
