Pain imagination is a related process that may include recall of past experiences, in addition to production of sensor…

Motor imagery and action observation following immobilization-induced hypoactivity: A narrative review.

2020

Abstract Background In sports, the risk of pathology or event that leads to an injury, a cessation of practice or even to an immobilization is high. The subsequent reduction of physical activity, or hypoactivity, induces neural and muscular changes that adversely affect motor skills and functional motor rehabilitation. Because the implementation of physical practice is difficult, if not impossible, during and immediately following injury or immobilization, complementary techniques have been proposed to minimize the deleterious impact of hypoactivity on neuromuscular function. Objective The current narrative review aimed to discuss the contributions of motor imagery and action observation, w…

Motor imagery and cortico-spinal excitability: A review

2016

International audience; Motor imagery (MI) has received a lot of interest during the last decades as its chronic or acute use has demonstrated several effects on improving sport performances or skills. The development of neuroimagery techniques also helped further our understanding of the neural correlates underlying MI. While some authors showed that MI, motor execution and action observation activated similar motor cortical regions, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) studies brought great insights on the role of the primary motor cortex and on the activation of the cortico-spinal pathway during MI. After defining MI and describing the TMS technique, a short report of MI activities on…

Spatial Cognition 2020/1: Book of abstracts : August 2-4, 2021, University of Latvia

2021

Spatial Cognition is concerned with the acquisition, development, representation, organization, and use of knowledge about spatial objects in real, virtual or hybrid environments and processed by human or artificial agents. Spatial Cognition includes research from different fields insofar as they are concerned with cognitive agents and space, such as cognitive and developmental psychology, linguistics, computer science, geography, cartography, philosophy, neuroscience, and education. Research issues in the field range from the investigation of human spatial cognition to mobile robot navigation, including topics such as wayfinding, spatial planning, spatial learning, internal and external re…

Geographic imagination and urban-rural binary in online discourses related to the capital region of Finland : A corpus onomastic study of Helsinki, V…

2023

The article focuses on digital discourses related to Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, the three biggest municipalities in Finland’s capital region. The data consist of texts from the discussion forum of Suomi24 that was analysed to find out how forum users produce socio-spatial distinctions by categorizing some groups as ‘others’ thus differentiating in-groups and out-groups. The analysis used methods of comprised corpus assisted discourse studies (CADS), including collocation analysis. The results show that discourses related both to native and non-native Helsinkians and to those living in the capital region in contrast to those living elsewhere in Finland are common and the juxtapositions betw…

Immaginare la ‘ricostruzione’. Un piccolo manuale sulla casa popolare

2020

This study, starting from the unpublished graphic transcriptions of Giuseppe Vaccaro, subsequently published by Francesco Moschini in the volume “La casa di serie. Appunti sull’abitazione 1940-1942”, intends to trace the elements of a part of the design thin- king that pervades rationalism and finds its strong expression in the form of the ‘scheme’.The short manuscript of the Bolognese architect is a real manual on the mass production houses written between 1940 and 1942 when he was called to participate in military actions during the second World War.The text, the schemes and the drawings elaborated by the Bolognese architect on the one hand not only seem to anticipate the housing crisis t…

Wyobraźnia teoriopolityczna: kilka uwag na marginesie książki "Rebelia i reakcja. Rewolucja 1905 roku i plebejskie doświadczenie polityczne" Wiktora …

2017

Dookreślenie wyobraźni teoriopolitycznej proponuję w kontekście pracy Wiktora Marca "Rebelia i reakcj…

Creativity by copying: imitating life as a work of imagination

2021

Engineering biological systems is easily interpretable as a process of mere and cold replication, or even distortion, of the natural domain, since it is often linked to industry and built on the Cartesian assumption of human rationality’s control over asubmissive nature. In this article, I approach living systems design from an alternative perspective, supporting its similarities with activities which are traditionally associated with creativity, like arts. I show that different kinds of creativity are deeply involved in copying, composing, and modifying life, focusing on two different levels: that of scientific modelling, recognisable by looking at biological circuits design, and that of a…

POLITICAL THEORY'S IMAGINATION. A FEW REMARKS ON WIKTOR MARZEC BOOK

2017

Social sciences, understood as critical and not neutral by nature, they should be equipped with specific competencies and sensivity. C.  W. Mills these comptence define as sociological imagination – which is study of the relationship of history and biography, Giddens interpreted it as three basic senses: historical, anthropological, critical. The translation into political science would be a political theories imagination, it consist,, among over things like a: historicity of political phenomena, antisubstansialism, research self-awareness. Definition of political theories imagination I propose in the context of Wiktor Marzec’s paper Rebelion and Reaction, which is a study from field of his…
