Isolated lip dermatitis (atopic cheilitis), successfully treated with topical tacrolimus 0.03%

2020

Background Exfoliative and erosive cheilitis, may be a source of speech and chewing discomfort, but may also be an aesthetic issue for the patients affected. Such a clinical presentation may implicate a variety of inflammatory conditions, including atopic (eczematous) cheilitis. Topical and systemic agents, e.g. corticosteroids, have been used to treat inflammatory lip conditions. Topical tacrolimus has also been used in some inflammatory lip conditions. Long-term safety of nine systemic medications for psoriasis: A cohort study using the Spanish Registry of Adverse Events for Biological Therapy in De…

2020

Background: Registry studies broadly describing the safety of systemic drugs in psoriasis are needed. Objective: To describe the safety findings of the systemic drugs acitretin, adalimumab, apremilast, cyclosporine, etanercept, infliximab, methotrexate, secukinumab, and ustekinumab used for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis in patients included in the Spanish Registry of Adverse Events for Biological Therapy in Dermatological Diseases (BIOBADADERM) Registry. Methods: The incidence rate ratio (IRR) and adjusted IRR (including propensity scores) of identified adverse events for each drug, using methotrexate as reference, were determined by means of a prospective cohort. Results: O…

Antiviral prophylaxis in patients with haematological malignancies and solid tumours: Guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Working Party (AGIHO) of …

2006

Morbidity and mortality in patients with malignancies are increased by viral infections. These mostly are reactivations of asymptomatic latent infections. They primarily concern clinical entities associated with the reactivation of herpes viruses, such as varicella zoster virus (VZV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV). Respiratory tract infections caused by influenza, parainfluenza or respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) are less common. Since reactivation of latent infections has major clinical impact, antiviral prophylaxis is an attractive approach for patients expecting immunosuppression. The main risk factor for clinically relevant reactivation is profound disruption of cellular immune response. Du…
