Implementation intention and planning interventions in Health Psychology: Recommendations from the Synergy Expert Group for research and practice

2016

The current article details a position statement and recommendations for future research and practice on planning and implementation intentions in health contexts endorsed by the Synergy Expert Group. The group comprised world-leading researchers in health and social psychology and behavioural medicine who convened to discuss priority issues in planning interventions in health contexts and develop a set of recommendations for future research and practice. The expert group adopted a nominal groups approach and voting system to elicit and structure priority issues in planning interventions and implementation intentions research. Forty-two priority issues identified in initial discussions were…

“The Best Laid Plans” : Do Individual Differences in Planfulness Moderate Effects of Implementation Intention Interventions?

2022

While there is good evidence supporting the positive effect of planning strategies like implementation intentions on the relationship between intention and behavior, there is less evidence on the moderating role of individual differences in planning capacity on this effect. This study aimed to examine the role of individual differences in planfulness on the effect of planning strategies on the intention–behavior gap. Specifically, this study investigated the influence of planfulness on the effectiveness of implementation intentions on goal-directed behavior using an experimental design. Undergraduate university students (N = 142) with high and low levels of planfulness based on a priori sco…

Nytt og nyttig, men er det nyttiggjort? : erfaring med implementering av Lifecare eRom i kommuner

2016

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk- Universitetet i Agder, 2016 We are both working in a municipality where a nursing home has procured Lifecare eRom, which is a module in the electronic medical record solution Gerica. The purpose of eRom is to provide quick access to a patient’s treatment plan, as well as the possibility to create documentation on touch screens site in the patient’s room. After six months we found that the system was not in use. Furthermore, we were under the impression that there had been some challenges with the implementation. Based on this, we formulated the following issue for exploration: What success factors and barriers have municipalities experienced duri…

Critical Experiences During the Implementation of a Self-tracking Technology

2016

Emerging technologies have brought several new ways to track, measure and evaluate own activity. Well-being, nutrition, physical training, mood, and sleep are a few of the various measures that can be self-tracked by different technological solutions. At the same time, people are becoming more interested in themselves and their own well-being, and constant tracking of own activities is getting more and more popular both on individual level as well as in general healthcare. This study examines critical experiences that occur during the implementation phase of the innovation-decision process and their influence to adopting or rejecting a self-tracking technology. The study is qualitative in n…

An adventurous learning journey : Physiotherapists’ conceptions of learning and integrating cognitive functional therapy into clinical practice

2022

© 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group Background: Recent low back pain guidelines recommend a BPS approach to the management of disabling low back pain. However, the most effective way of teaching physiotherapists to implement these approaches remains unknown. The present qualitative study aimed to explore physiotherapists’ conceptions of learning and integrating Cognitive Functional Therapy (CFT) into clinical practice in Finnish primary health care. Methods: We interviewed 22 physiotherapists, who participated in four to six days of CFT workshops. A phenomenographic approach was used to explore the variation in the physiotherapists’ conceptions of this process. Resu…

Implementing Intranet 2.0: A Study of Knowledge Requirements for External Consultants in Enterprise Systems

2014

Published article from the series: Procedia Technology. Also available on Science Direct: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.protcy.2014.10.018 Open Access This paper reports on a case study focusing on intranet implementation projects seen from a consultancy lens. SharePoint is an Intranet 2.0 platform which is a user-centric system based on functionalities adapted from Web 2.0 technologies. Intranet implementation projects are accompanied by a complex socio-technical organizational environment, and require changes in organizational structure and culture. While former studies mainly have focused on challenges seen from the implementing organization's perspective, this study focuses on the experie…

Reception of the quality assurance commitments of the Bologna process in Finnish higher education institutions

2016

AbstractThis article analyses Finnish higher education institutions’ reception of the implementation of the new quality assurance systems that governments participating in the Bologna Process have committed to establishing in the Berlin Communique of 2003. The data were collected using a web survey and the respondents were classified with a cluster analysis. The reception was more positive in the polytechnics than in the research universities and women were more positive than men. People working in managerial positions were most positive about, and committed to, quality assurance. Most critical were young researchers in research universities working in temporary jobs. Some opinions were so …

Prediction of Specific TCR-Peptide Binding From Large Dictionaries of TCR-Peptide Pairs

2019

Abstract The T cell repertoire is composed of T cell receptors (TCR) selected by their cognate MHC-peptides and naive TCR that do not bind known peptides. While the task of distinguishing a peptide-binding TCR from a naive TCR unlikely to bind any peptide can be performed using sequence motifs, distinguishing between TCRs binding different peptides requires more advanced methods. Such a prediction is the key for using TCR repertoires as disease-specific biomarkers. We here used large scale TCR-peptide dictionaries with state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) methods to produce ERGO (pEptide tcR matchinG predictiOn), a highly specific classifier to predict which TCR binds to which…

Life-based design for technical solutions in social and voluntary work

2012

The Social and Voluntary work sector operates outside the organised boundaries and systems of normal business, financial and government organisational institutions. My target during this research has been to develop an optimum solution for decision support towards committing and accepting resources in the Social Work and Voluntary sector. In initial part of this monograph, I have traced the history of Design Thinking from the time it was ‘art and craft’ until modern times where multiple approaches are tried, tested and implemented for solution development. For the actual application development, I have chosen the Life-based Design conceptual framework. Three design iterations were made in t…
