Brugada syndrome (BrS) was first described in 1992 as an aberrant pattern of ST segment elevation in right precordial leads with a high incidence of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in patients with structurally normal heart. It represents 4% ∼ 12% of all SCD and 20% of SCD in patients with structurally normal heart. The extremely wide genetic heterogeneity of BrS and other inherited cardiac disorders makes this new area of genetic arrhytmology a fascinating one. What influence patients'choice for peritoneal dialysis? a qualitative study

L’objectif de cette étude était d’identifier les facteurs qui influencent le choix de la dialyse péritonéale (DP) chez les patients insuffisants rénaux, dans un centre de dialyse en France offrant un dispositif d’éducation thérapeutique du patient (ETP) aux patients en pré-dialyse. Pour ce faire, nous avons mené trente six entretiens semi-directifs avec des patients, des médecins de l’équipe d’ETP et un cadre de santé. Nous avons également observé dix séances d’ETP afin d’explorer la nature des interactions entre les patients, leurs accompagnants et l’équipe soignante. Background Routine manual thrombectomy (MT) is not recommended in primary percutaneous coronary intervention (P-PCI) but it is performed in many procedures. The objective of our study was validating the DDTA score, designed for selecting patients who benefit most from MT. Managing Persistent Hypoxemia: what is new?

Mechanical ventilation is the standard life-support technique for patients with severe acute respiratory failure. However, some patients develop persistent and refractory hypoxemia because their lungs are so severely damaged that they are unable to respond to the application of high inspired oxygen concentration and high levels of positive end-expiratory pressure. In this article, we review current knowledge on managing persistent hypoxemia in patients with injured lungs.

Background To describe the characteristics of xerostomia (dry mouth) in the population with sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (SAHS) and contrast its prevalence versus that found in healthy subjects, and to compare the frequency of xerostomia in SAHS patients with and without continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment. Material and methods A prospective comparative study was made between adults recently diagnosed with SAHS in a public hospital (n=60) and healthy individuals (n=54).
