Elaborating biodiversity offsetting towards ecological accounting of land use planning

2022

Kompen…

On the convergent parts of high order spectral moments of stationary structural responses

1986

The paper deals with the evaluation of the convergent parts of the high spectral moments of linear systems subjected to stationary random input. An adequate physical meaning of these quantities in both the time and frequency domains is presented. Recurrence formulas to obtain the high convergent cross spectral moments of any order are given in the case of white noise input.

Theoretical Evaluation of [V IV (α-C 3 S 5 ) 3 ] 2– as Nuclear-Spin-Sensitive Single-Molecule Spin Transistor

2017

In a straightforward application of molecular nanospintronics to quantum computing, single-molecule spin transistors can be used to measure nuclear spin qubits. Conductance jumps accompany electronic spin flips at the so-called anticrossings between energy levels, which take place only at specific magnetic fields determined by the nuclear spin state. To date, the only molecular hardware employed for this technique has been the terbium(III) bis(phthalocyaninato) complex. Here we explore theoretically whether a similar behavior is expected for a highly stable molecular spin qubit, the vanadium tris-dithiolate complex [VIV(α-C3S5)3]2–. We consider such a molecule between two gold electrodes an…

Updating input–output matrices: assessing alternatives through simulation

2009

A problem that frequently arises in economics, demography, statistics, transportation planning and stochastic modelling is how to adjust the entries of a matrix to fulfil row and column aggregation constraints. Biproportional methods in general and the so-called RAS algorithm in particular, have been used for decades to find solutions to this type of problem. Although alternatives exist, the RAS algorithm and its extensions are still the most popular. Apart from some interesting empirical and theoretical properties, tradition, simplicity and very low computational costs are among the reasons behind the great success of RAS. Nowadays computer hardware and software have made alternative proce…

Atšķirības insulta menedžmentā Somijā un Latvijā

2022

Biproportional Method for Analysing Interindustry Dynamics: the case of France

1990

Two elements are being presented in this paper: (1) A new and original method for analysing matrix dynamics, called the synthetical biproportional projector method (SBP), which can be used to project input–output tables and compare one with another. (2) Some results for France for the important period 1970–85. The paper starts with the observation that no systematic study of the change in the French productive structure as displayed In the input–output tables (tableaux entries-sorties in France) has ever been made. This is unfortunate, since a complete series of data is now available concerning a key period of the French economic evolution including the petroleum crisis, European integratio…

An Italian input–output model for the assessment of energy and environmental benefits arising from retrofit actions of buildings

2013

Abstract The paper presents an energy and environmental extended input–output model combined with the life cycle assessment, applied to assess the energy and environmental benefits arising from the Italian policy of tax deduction for energy retrofit actions of buildings. The study allowed to assess the advantages due to the above policy, taking into account both direct and indirect energy saving and avoided CO 2 emissions obtained with the retrofit actions and indirect energy consumption and related CO 2 emissions due to the realization of the above actions. Moreover, the authors defined an original model to assess the indirect rebound effect caused by the energy saving actions. The obtaine…

Satisfaction with and reliability of in-hospital video-EEG monitoring systems in epilepsy diagnosis – A German multicenter experience

2021

OBJECTIVE: To analyze satisfaction with and reliability of video-electroencephalography-monitoring systems (VEMS) in epilepsy diagnostics.; METHODS: A survey was conducted between December 2020 and January 2021 among German epilepsy centers using well-established customer satisfaction (CS) and quality assurance metrics.; RESULTS: Among 16 participating centers, CS with VEMS was low, with only 13% of customers actively recommending their system. Only 50% of users were satisfied with the overall performance of their VEMS, and a low 18% were satisfied with the manufacturer's customer service. User interface, software stability, lack of regular updates, and missing customer-oriented improvement…

Noise features in InP semiconductors operating under static or sub-Terahertz electric fields

2014

The sensitivity of semiconductor based circuits is strongly affected by the presence of intrinsic noise, which limits the performance of electronic devices. For this reason, several studies have investigated and characterized the transport properties of hot-electrons in semiconductor structures, by analyzing the electronic noise in systems operating under static and/or large-signal periodic driving conditions. Previous studies on electron velocity fluctuations in III-V and covalent semiconductor crystals, driven by periodic electric fields, have shown that the total noise power depends on both the amplitude and the frequency of the excitation signals. On the other hand, to the best of our k…

True prices, latent prices and the Ghosh model : some inconsistencies

2001

Beside the traditional Leontief demand-driven model, there is the Ghosh supply-driven model. This paper explores the typology of the possible models: demand driven models versus supply driven models, true prices versus latent (or index) prices, coefficients in physical terms versus coefficients in value. This demonstrates that the supply-driven model offers results of limited interest, being incapable to separate quantities and prices; and it is only when a very strange hypothesis is chosen -- demand prices, controlled by the buyer -- that the supply-driven model gives an interesting result with a separation between quantities and prices in the solution, becoming the dual of the Leontief mo…
