The two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae is one of the most polyphagous and most damaging pests worldwide. The behaviour of the mite differs on its various host plants and this could influence crop defence strategies. We investigated the perception of leaf morphology by T. urticae in relation to the effects of visible light on the selection of sites on which females prefer to live and feed. Mite females chose the shaded surface when smooth and glabrous lemon leaves were offered as a surface for living and feeding, showing a photophobic behaviour. Il lessicografo e professore Antonio Ronna (1801-1866) appartiene a quella schiera di intellettuali impegnati che presero parte al Risorgimento e che si esiliarono per non piegarsi al giogo del regime austriaco. Nel 1836, completa, grazie alle schede lasciate da Biagioli, il Dictionnaire italien-français, français-italien: è l'inizio di un'attività che ne farà uno dei lessicografi di maggior successo dell'Ottocento. The Roman cemetery of le Clos au Duc in Évreux (Eure) lasted from the 1st to the 4th c. AD. The most common funerary practice in the 1st c. AD was cremation. From the beginning of the 2nd c. AD this rapidly gave place to inhumation burials. By the end of the 3rd c. lead coffins could be found in burials, but it remained a minority practice reserved for an elite. The 2010 excavation in Évreux allowed the recovery of an example of these. It was incomplete, but the good preservation of its remains made a multidisciplinary study possible. Apart from the bones of a young woman, the lead coffin contained coins, textile, fur, calcite (CaCO3) and insects. These results make it possible to retrace t…

In recent years, botanical insecticides based on essential oils (EOs), or their main components, have received much attention as promising tools for Integrated Pest Management, due to their environmental safety and low side effects on non-target organisms. In this study, Carlina acaulis EO and its main component, carlina oxide, recently proven to be effective larvicidal and adulticidal agents against some insect pests, were analyzed for their toxicity, electroantennographic (EAG), and behavioral responses to adult olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae).
