Integrated Urban Regeneration – Solution for Cities Revitalize

Abstract To overcome the crisis which present society faces, it's necessary find solutions, adopt new strategies, leading to transforming too and revitalizing urban areas. Urban regeneration means the improvement the quality of life and investing in the future, this action being a very broad one, continues, difficult, but not impossible, in any case imperative.This paper presents the results of a study on integrated sustainable urban regeneration in several European countries, including Romania, and comparison between these countries in terms of urban regeneration.

History Matters: Colonial‑Based Connectivity and Foreign Headquarter Location Choice

AbstractIn this study, we argue that European countries’ extensive relationships with former colonies represent a location factor that attracts foreign headquarter investments. The strategic role of foreign headquarters as coordinators, opportunity detectors, and global bridgeheads makes the location choice of headquarter activities sensitive to historical-based institutional connections. Drawing on a sample of 2230 foreign headquarter investments in Europe, we find that the stronger the combined effect of historical connections and current economic relationships with former colonies, the higher the probability of attracting headquarter investment projects. Because of the doubts about the effectiveness of the Kyoto Protocol, several scholars have asked whether other types of agreements can be designed to achieve large reductions of GHG emissions. Designing a profitable and stable international environmental agreement (IEA) that deals with the shortcomings of Kyoto-type agreement is the main motivation of this work. The study is aimed at exploring the ways to deepen and expand the cooperation between China, EU and the Baltic states within different partnership formats. The authors argue that the strategic political, economic and security risks should be carefully assessed. However potential risks should not be exaggerated and should not overshadow new opportunities of EU – Baltics - China cooperation for growth and jobs creation.

China and Baltic States have developed economic cooperation under the format of “16+1” (later “17+1” when Greece joined in 2019), where both sides have taken more “open” attitudes and policies to establish closer cooperation in trade and investment.
