2019

In the Community of Valencia we can observe a variety of Spanish with its own characteristics. The students of E/LE that study in this context observe linguistic characteristics that they had not previously perceived and that, in most cases, they want to incorporate into their Spanish. In this way, in the present work the inclusion of the concept of Spanish variety in E/LE class in American students who studied in Valencia is shown. This process has been carried out through activities that are introduced in the E/LE class. Finally, surveys were used with the aim of seeing the acquisition of the characteristics of this variety.

Exploring the role of the sharing economy in disasters management

2020

Abstract Improvements in information and communications technologies (ICTs) have facilitated the inclusion of the sharing economy (SE) in societies more than ever. In the aftermath of recent disasters, the SE played significant roles to help the affected people and support official responders. However, the literature has not effectively explored these roles, and thus, no framework can support the systematic inclusion of the SE in disasters management. This paper aims to address the gap through a two-stage exploratory research approach. First, we conduct a systematic literature review to identify the extent to which the SE is taken into consideration in disasters. After that, we investigate …

Well-Being without Employment? Promoting the Employability of Refugees

2020

There are more than 25 million refugees in the world. Many of them try to reach the Mediterranean in order to enter Europe. Spain is one of the countries that receive refugees and have to integrate them. Many refugees have experienced persecution in their countries, as well as forced migration, rape, diseases, etc. Their integration requires support and coordination from the government, health services, and social agents. The first step in achieving this integration is getting a job, which is currently an important issue. Thus, we aim to analyze the employability of a specific group of refugees in Spain and then develop and implement an intervention program to improve their employability. O…

Factors affecting the choice of construction project delivery in developing oil and gas economies

2016

ABSTRACTConstruction academics and practitioners often disagree on which set of factors should take precedence over another and the basis for their inclusion in selecting a project delivery method. This disagreement exacerbates the probability of project failure, which could be detrimental to developing economies. Despite significant cost overruns and these economies being the largest contributors towards global energy sector growth, there is limited knowledge on appropriate factors to be used for selecting project delivery methods in developing oil and gas nations. An evaluation undertaken in Trinidad reveals there are no significant differences in the mean expressed by 133 professionals i…

Establishing On-Line Corporate Training in Distributed, Synchronous eCollaboration: A Field Study

2010

Whereas technologies for eCollaboration are maturing, a need for learning eCollaboration in distributed organizations continues.
