The impact of local communities on the school development - a case study examining expectations and inclusion on a systemic level

This paper presents one specific case of our school development research project. It shed light on the issue of a local community and the structure of expectations, which may limit the school’s development and students’ development. Because this project takes place in Scandinavia one needs first to understand the schooling policy called “one school for all”, which stresses inclusion. In addition, the phenomenon Langfeldt describes as “the quality of schools is created locally” will be explained, as well as the nature of expectations. Homosexual acts between women were criminalized in Finland in the 1889 Penal Code which also criminalized men's homosexual acts for the first time explicitly in Finnish legislation. The inclusion of women in the Penal Code took place without much ado. In the article it is argued that the uncomplicated juxtaposing of men and women was due to the legacy of a cultural pattern where man and woman, as categories, were not in an all-pervasive polarity to each other, for example, in sexual subjectivity. In the past, astrophysical models encountered severe difficulties in explaining the solar 46,48Ca abundances or the correlated Ca-Ti-Cr isotopic anomalies observed in inclusions of the Allende meteorite [1–3]. Among the various attempts. SANDLER et al. [4] suggested the production of neutron-rich stable Ca-Ti-Cr isotopes in a high neutron density environment of ~107 mol/cm3 with a neutron-exposure time of 10 s. Abstract The synthesis of tetramethoxyresorcinarene podands bearing p‐toluene arms connected by ‐SO3‐ (1) and ‐CH2O‐ (2) linkers is presented herein. In the solid state, the resorcinarene podand 1 forms an intramolecular self‐inclusion complex with the pendant p‐toluene group of a podand arm, whereas the resorcinarene podand 2 does not show self‐inclusion. Composite Indicator of Social Inclusion for European Countries

Social inclusion is one of the key challenges of the European Union (EU) Sustainable Development Strategy. We use four indicators from EU policies to measure social inclusion for the 27 member countries of Europe. In particular, we aggregate the four indicators in a multiplicative composite indicator via a DEA-BoD approach with weights determined endogenously with proportion constraints. We obtain a score of social inclu- sion that allows us to grade the 27 EU countries from 2006 to 2010. In this way, we highlight the specific role played by the four indicators in determining improvements and deteriorations of social inclusion during the European phase of the financial and economic crisis.

The Digital Divide is one of the key challenges for mankind. Despite attempts to digitally include people, the divide is bigger than ever. This contribution [1] to a sustainable future promotes “Internet lite” as the new paradigm for providing everyone with the opportunity to participate in the digital society. The current paper first addresses the reasons for the digital divide, thereafter addresses free access to information as catalyst for the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and provides the path towards “Internet lite for all”.

School district administrators' perspectives on special education policy and practice in Norway and Sweden

The purpose of this study was to examine special education policy and practice from the perspective of school district administrators in Norway and Sweden. Administrators from 266 Norwegian and 262 Swedish municipalities completed a survey concerning: (a) reasons children need special education, (b) common and desired organizational solutions, and (c) the influence of policy on practice. Despite a number of clear differences, findings suggest that Swedish and Norwegian administrators share similar attitudes regarding the provision of special education support.
