How Do Computer Science Students Use Distributed Version Control Systems?
2013
The inclusion of version control systems into computing curricula enables educators to promote competences needed in real-life situations. The use of a version control system also has several potential benefits for the teacher. The teacher might, for instance, use the tool to monitor students’ progress and to give feedback efficiently. This study analyzes how students used the distributed version control system Git in several computing courses. We analyzed students’ commit log data in two advanced programming courses, a second-year introductory software engineering course, and two courses where students developed software products. This enables us to compare Git usage between introductory l…
Coordination Driven Capture of Nicotine Inside a Mesoporous MOF.
2017
Metal organic frameworks (MOFs) are a wide class of crystalline porous polymers studied in many fields, ranging from catalysis to gas storage. In the past few years, MOFs have been studied for the encapsulation of organic or organometallic molecules and for the development of potential drug carriers. Here, we report on the study of two structurally-related mesoporous Cu-MOFs, namely PCN-6 and PCN-6′ (PCN stands for Porous Coordination Network), for nicotine trapping. Nicotine is a well-known alkaloid liquid molecule at room temperature, whose crystalline structure is still unknown. In this work, the loading process was monitored by electron ionization mass spectrometry by using a direct ins…
Individualized Education Plans: What Characterizes the Research?
2015

This study illuminates the research question what characterizes the research of Special Needs Education’s (SNE’s) use of Individualized Education Plans (IEP), during the period 2010-2015? A sample of 11 relevant Norwegian publications has been analyzed by means of these criteria: Type of publication, research method(s) applied, sub-topics focused on and perspectives of SNE. Findings show (1) the amount of the research is still scarce, (2) only three researchers of PhD-level or above have participated in this sample of publications, (3) the sample demonstrates various research methods applied, although document analysis dominates, (4) there is still a need of research look…

Arte y acción social en prisiones. Diseñando un taller permanente, primeras experiencias.
2017
Flipped Classroom and Universal Design for Learning: Towards an Inclusive Educational Environment and Curriculum
2018
Flipped Classroom (FC) methodology too tends to make learning process signicant and accessible to every student. The Universal Design for Learning (UDL) could be the pedagogical approach that may help in responding to this challenge, since its key idea is remove all the barriers that even teaching methods and didactics can create. UDL is a concept extension of the Universal Design, an architectural movement whose idea was proposed rstly in 1987 by Ron Mace. The tenet that lies behind the Universal Design is that, in architecture, everything has to be conceived and designed in order to suit the widest range of users, including the ones with disabilities.
Predictors of Sexual Satisfaction in Women: A Systematic Review.
2021
Abstract Introduction The increasing research interest in sexual satisfaction corresponds to a large amount of studies which focus on different singular determinants without establishing a common model for its explanation. Objectives The purpose of this review is to systematically identify and evaluate the structure and results of the current research about sexual satisfaction in heterosexual women in a long-term relationship. Methods A systematic literature search using Web of Knowledge, ProQuest and PSYNDEX was conducted from January 2004 to October 2019. In total, 1,649 studies published in the last 15 years were extracted from the databases with a systematic keyword search. Through a mu…
The Importance of “Empty Gestures” in Recovery: Being Human Together
2017
What do clients/patients want or value from their encounters with healthcare providers? Based on ethnographic research conducted with individuals suffering from drug addiction and mental health issues, this article argues that clients/patients treasure “everyday” or “human” interaction with medical staff. Everydayness is accomplished through three generic social processes: **co-silence, inclusion in back-stage activity, and physical dramatizations of authenticity. These processes and other ordinary interactional strategies for “being human together” should be seen as vital tools for recovery.
The residence permit for third-country nationals who are victims of human trafficking: A double-face instrument between compliance strategy and prote…
2017
Purpose The aim of the present study is to explore institutional design strategies that promote compliance by regulating peculiar sorts of agents, namely, human trafficking victims, starting from the point of view that institutions assume addressee virtue, but instead should consider the hypothesis of non-compliance or that the measures adopted reveal their inefficiency to satisfy the goals they were thought for, or that they are applied to obtain scopes, which are different from the ones they were conceived for. Design/methodology/approach Different methodological approaches, both deductive and inductive, are combined in the present paper, together with comparative and philosophical insig…
