Influence de l'état protéique sur la dynamique de séparation de phase et de gélification dans un système ternaire aqueux à base de protéines de pois …
2012
Two aqueous systems at 20°C in 0.1 M NaCl and pH 7.2 containing globular pea proteins and sodium alginate were investigated in this study. First, phase behavior of (i) either low-denatured mixed globulins or (ii) their thermally pre-aggregated counterparts - alginate mixtures was compared using a multi-scale approach, by means of phase diagram and microstructure analysis by confocal microscopy. Thermodynamic incompatibility was the main driving force leading to phase separation within the mixtures, which presented according to their initial biopolymer composition both different morphological and time-evolution features of coexisting phases. Thereafter, a cold-set gelation for each system wa…
Étude de la biologie d'une messicole en régression: le bleuet (Centaurea cyanus L.)
2011
Agroecosystems are currently experiencing high biodiversity loss, in particular among the plant species specifically adapted to this habitat. This decline results from cropping systems that have been intensified in Western Europe since the 1950s. The cornflower (Centaurea cyanus L.), considered as emblem of the flora associated with traditional cereals, appears as a species that may be at risk and should be monitored. Indeed, cornflower can serve as a host to predators of crop pests and is strongly attractive for the pollinators. This study examines the biological factors that could potentially cause the decline of this species: spatial distribution, potential for growth, population's genet…
Contrasting effects ofWolbachiaon cytoplasmic incompatibility and fecundity in the haplodiploid miteTetranychus urticae
2002
Recent studies on Wolbachia-induced incompatibility in haplodiploid insects and mites have revealed a diversity of cytoplasmic incompatibility (CI) patterns among host species. Here, we report intraspecific diversity in CI expression among four strains of the arrhenotokous mite Tetranychus urticae and in T. turkestani. Variability of CI expression within T. urticae ranged from no CI to complete CI, and included either female embryonic mortality or male conversion types of CI. A fecundity cost attributed to the infection with the high-CI Wolbachia strain was the highest ever recorded for Wolbachia (−80 to −100% decrease). Sequence polymorphism at a 550-bp-portion of Wolbachia wsp gene reveal…

Is the European Commission a hothouse for supranationalism? : theorising and exploring the world of Commission civil servants
2005
Does the European Commission (Commission) manage to transform and re-direct the roles played by Commission civil servants? To test the old neo-functionalist claim on loyalty transfer among civil servants, this article provides fresh survey and interview data on seconded national experts in the Commission. The transformative powers of the Commission are tested by assessing the extent to which seconded national experts adopt supranational role perceptions. Theoretically, the emergence of supranational role perceptions is accounted for by considering (i) processes of pre-socialisation outside the Commission, (ii) processes of resocialisation inside the Commission, and (iii) organisational inco…
