Assessing local differences between the spatio-temporal second-order structure of two point patterns occurring on the same linear network

2021

Abstract We introduce Local Indicators of Spatio-Temporal Association (LISTA) functions on linear networks and use them to build a statistical test for local second-order structure. This allows to identify differences in the spatio-temporal clustering behaviour of two point patterns, a point pattern of interest and a background one, both occurring on the same linear network. We assess the performance of the testing procedure for local second-order structure through simulation studies under a variety of scenarios that also account for different generating point processes. We show that the proposed local test is able to correctly identify the spatio-temporal difference in the local second-ord…

Synthesis and Dopamine Receptor Selectivity of the Benzyltetrahydroisoquinoline, (R)-(+)-nor-Roefractine

1998

(R)-(+)-nor-Roefractine (1) was synthesized by the Bischler-Napieralski route, using asymmetric reduction of the 1, 2-didehydro precursor imine with sodium (S)-N-CBZ-prolinyloxyborohydride. Compound 1 was able to displace [3H]-raclopride (a D2 dopamine receptor-selective ligand) from its specific binding sites in rat striatum with selectivity vs [3H]-SCH23390 (D1 dopamine receptor-selective ligand).

A Theoretical Learning Model Combining Stochastic Cellular Automata and Economic Indicators to Simulate Land Use Change

2015

The study of change in land use has been included in territorial planning to inform spatial planners and policy makers of the possible developments they face in order to optimize future management decisions. In this paper the authors present the core of an original learning model coupling stochastic Cellular Automata and economic indicators to simulate the land use change. This model is an important step in building an “environmental virtual laboratory” to explore, explain and forecast land use change.

The subjective and objective evaluation of accomodation in Latvia in the aftercrisis period

2021

The most important wishes of people concentrate on the tendency to reach vitally significant factors (well-being, security, sustainability) that are realized through various channels – education, employment, family, material prosperity a.o.). One of the basic needs of an individual is a need for a physical shelter or a dwelling, yet, a dwelling is not only a roof over the head - it is also an indicator of the life quality. In its turn, it includes also the location of the dwelling, its technical conditions, as well as the living space – all influences the quality of life. Thereby the satisfaction with the dwelling can be linked with the satisfaction with life and well-being. On the side of …

Study of various indicating redox systems on the indirect flow-injection biamperometric determination of pharmaceuticals

1999

Abstract The reversible redox couples (Fe(III)/Fe(II); Ce(IV)/Ce(III); Fe(CN) 6 3– /Fe(CN) 6 4− ; I 2 /I − ; Br 2 /Br − and VO 3 − /VO 2+ ) were studied as indicating redox systems for biamperometric determination of paracetamol in a flow injection assembly. Considering the selectivity of assayed systems against excipients and antioxidants that typically are presented in pharmaceutical formulations (e.g. sucrose, glucose, ascorbic acid and hydrogen sulphite) the systems Fe(III)/Fe(II) and VO 3 − /VO 2+ were selected for the determination of the drug. The sample was injected into a carrier which merged with the oxidant stream where the drug was oxidised by excess oxidant. The observed signal…

Comparison of leaf surface roughness analysis methods by sensitivity to noise analysis

2015

International audience; Surface roughness is of great interest in agricultural spraying because it is used to characterise leaf surface wettability to predict the behaviour of droplets on a leaf surface. In recent years, the use of texture analysis to estimate surface roughness has emerged. In this paper we propose to estimate leaf surface roughness by using an optimisation of the Generalized Fourier Descriptors method. This approach is then compared with two other standard methods in the literature, one based on grey level intensity variation and the other on wavelet decomposition. Since roughness has many definitions and each method is calculated differently, we propose a new approach to …

Sustainable tourism: Measures, evidence and future prospects.

2021

The Chapter aims to provide a critical review of the quantitative approaches so far introduced in literature to measure the sustainable tourism. We focus on both variables and methods employed to obtain synthetic indicators of sustainable tourism and aim to provide some critical insights on potential new challenges caused by the current pandemic. For example, some dimensions of tourism sustainability may become more relevant in future due to the increasing attention by people on health and safety. Finally, a focus on the studies on measurement of sustainable tourism in the Mediterranean area will be provided.

The Study, From Romanian Perspective, Regarding the Reform Priorities of the Cohesion Policy

2013

This paper analyses the targets of the Romanian state according to Europe’s 200 Strategy. Being a new Member State, Romania’s targets for 2020 are lower than those of the older members. Even like this, using Eurostat indicators and the Report of World Economic Forum, my purpose is to present a comprehensive view of these differences in target levels and to explain why Romania can’t catch up with its older counter parts until 2020.
