Exploring the impact of sustainable value proposition on firm performance
2022
Considering the immense potential of sustainable business models in tackling the broader challenge of corporate sustainability, this paper integrates the literature streams on sustainability practices and organizational business models to analyze the performance implications of a firm's sustainable value proposition. Based on the analysis of a large panel dataset across different industries, consistent with the proposed theory, a sustainable value proposition has been found to have a positive impact on a firm's market-based financial performance (namely, Tobin's Q). Yet, this impact turns out to be highly context-dependent. In particular, the findings reveal that a firm's R&D capabilities i…
Thinking about industry decline : A qualitative meta-analysis and future research directions
2018
We analyze historical and longitudinal research focusing on industry decline. Our analysis suggests that the literature’s general reliance on a few meta-theoretical arguments has important consequences for how decline is framed and explained. We identify four meta-theoretical clusters in the literature: politics and market dynamics are seen as exogenous factors with deterministic features, whereas technology and management capabilities are framed as firm-internal failures with causally questionable explanations of how firm-level characteristics explain industry-level decline. We propose that it is important to understand the limitations of distinct meta-theoretical arguments for an enhanced…
Adoption of digital innovations in rural enterprises during COVID-19
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has rapidly affected the operating conditions of enterprises. Traditional customers and operational models are changing radically in the short term. Digitalisation and digital methods provide an opportunity to re-organise working methods and create a new kind of business to replace old methods and business models. Compared to urban enterprises, rural enterprises have less experience with digital tools and are less likely to adopt digital innovations. This makes rural enterprises especially vulnerable. The purpose of this study is to provide insights into how micro-enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises in rural areas have addressed the COVID-19 pandemic, th…

Outlying location of logistics activities : the example of the Burgundy in France
2015
International audience; This paper contributes to the understanding of spatial location of logistics activities in an outlying region. A quantitative analysis in Burgundy (French region) underlines the important polarization of warehousing developed in a limited area during 1980–1990s intensified during 2000s. The companies that locate their warehouses in Burgundy have different strategies that could explain this outlying location. For example, the low cost of land, favorable terms of tax system and the presence of a labour pool with an important unemployed rate incentive could incentive some companies to locate their warehouses in an outlying region like the Burgundy.
Environmental values in industrial marketing relationships
2017
Concern for the natural environment has become an issue that virtually all companies have to address. Literature suggests that an environmentally oriented marketing strategy, such as an environmental brand image, yields competitive advantage for the supplier in the form of improved customer outcomes and financial performance. At the same time, key barriers to environmental purchasing are found to be related to higher perceived cost and lack of environmental interest among purchasing professionals. In addition, research has repeatedly revealed a gap between customers’ environmental values and attitudes and their manifestation in purchasing behavior. This dissertation contributes to the inter…

Diuron mobility through vineyard soils contaminated with copper
2005
International audience; The herbicide diuron is frequently applied to vineyard soils in Burgundy, along with repeated treatments with Bordeaux mixture (a blend of copper sulfate and calcium hydroxide) that result in elevated copper concentrations. Cu could in principle affect the fate and transport of diuron or its metabolites in the soil either directly by complexation or indirectly by altering the populations or activity of microbes involved in their degradation. To assess the effect of high Cu concentrations on diuron transport, an experiment was designed with ten undisturbed columns of calcareous and acidic soils contaminated with 17–509 mg kg−1 total Cu (field-applied). Grass was plant…
