Augmenting the algorithm: emerging human-in-the-loop work configurations
2020
Abstract How do configurations of humans and algorithms evolve as firms adopt artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, and what are the implications for work and organization? We explored these questions through a two-year long case study of an organization in the international maritime trade that introduced automated algorithmic support for data analysis and prediction work. Drawing on a human–machine configuration perspective, we found that humans and the algorithm were configured and reconfigured in multiple ways over time as the organization dealt with the introduction of algorithmic analysis. In contrast to replacing human work, the emergent configurations required new roles and redi…
Achieving Sustainability Through Geodata: An Empirical Study of Challenges and Barriers
2020
Master's thesis in Information systems (IS501) Research within data management is often based on the elements of the data lifecycle. Organizations and businesses are also becoming more interested in data lifecycle management to leverage their data streams, compounded by an interest in geographical attributes within the data –referred to as geodata. Geodata provides a richer basis for analysis and is increasingly important within urban planning. Furthermore, the pressure to achieve sustainability goals calls for improving the data lifecycle. The challenge remainsas to what can be improvedwithin the data lifecycle –with geodata as an important input –to achieve sustainability dimensions. Our …
Project report : Evaluering av INSITU skogbrannøvelse
2021

2014
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk HSI 500 Universitetet i Agder 2014 Background: This rapport is a student project as a part of the final year program for master degree in Health and social Informatics at Agder University. The implementation of electronic prescribing systems in the health sector is a priority for both the public policy and for the management of hospitals. It is expected that such systems will increase the work capacity of the employees, improve information flow and reduce medication errors. Akershus University Hospital is the only hospital in Norway that has implemented an electronic prescribing system at the ward units. But implementation is seriously delayed com…
