Information behaviour of the millennial generation: a scoping review of medical residents and their use of social media.

2018

Background Medical residents can offer ideas for new information services, as most of them are 'digital natives', although reviews of the use of social media in health care settings do not provide data on their information behaviour. Objective A scoping review aimed at providing a research map for the information behaviour of medical residents and their use of social media, listing the aspects of the information behaviour studied and the theories and methods used. Methods A search was carried out in pubmed, embase, cinahl and lisa in April of 2018, with the results limited to the period from 2010 onwards. Results Thirty-nine relevant articles from 38 different studies were identified. The p…

Knowledge Extraction from Healthcare Data Using User-Adaptable Keywords-Based Query Language

2020

Nowadays, the volume of the information gathered by any organization increases more and more rapidly. It is essential to be able to use this information efficiently for it to benefit the operation of the organization. There is no point of gathering the information if it is not converted into knowledge. The knowledge extraction process becomes the backbone of any successful organization. Moreover, the extraction of the knowledge must be quick and efficient, so that the newly-obtained knowledge can be put in use at once. The problem addressed in this paper is how to allow the domain expert to extract the knowledge from their information systems themselves without involving the third party in …

Determinants of user behaviour and recommendation in social networks

2014

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to analyse the determinants of social network use behaviour using Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Uses and Gratifications Theory. Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative study was carried out with data gathered by personal interview using a structured questionnaire. Relationships proposed in the theoretical model were estimated through structural equation models. In total, 811 users of social networks over 14 and residents in Spain were part of the sample. Findings – Results indicate that use attitude and the subjective norm, both TPB variables, directly and significantly influence social network loyalty. Thus, network loyalty can be achiev…

Multi-criteria risk classification to enhance complex supply networks performance

2021

[EN] Management of complex supply networks is a fundamental business topic today. Especially in the presence of many and diverse stakeholders, identifying and assessing those risks having a potential negative impact on the performance of supply processes is of utmost importance and, as a result, implementing focused risk management actions is a current lively field of research. The possibility of supporting Supply Chain Risks Management (SCRM) is herein explored from a Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM)-based perspective. The sorting method ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la REalite (ELECTRE) TRI is proposed as a structural procedure to classify Supply Chain Risks (SCRs) into proper risk…

Adsorption of organic compounds at the surface of Enceladus' ice grains. A grand canonical Monte Carlo simulation study

2021

International audience; In this paper, we characterise the adsorption of ethylene, propanol and hexanal molecules on crystalline ice by grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations performed at 236 K, a temperature which is typical of some Enceladus’ environments. We show that at low coverage of the ice surface, the adsorption of propanol and hexanal is driven by the interaction of these molecules with the ice phase and, as a consequence, the adsorbed molecules lie more or less parallel to the ice surface. On the other hand, upon saturation, the adsorbate–adsorbate interactions become more and more important and the molecules tend to become tilted with respect to the surface, the aliphatic chain…

H∞ sliding mode control for uncertain neutral-type stochastic systems with Markovian jumping parameters

2015

This paper is devoted to the investigation of H ∞ sliding mode control (SMC) for uncertain neutral stochastic systems with Markovian jumping parameters and time-varying delays. A sliding surface functional is firstly constructed. Then, the sliding mode control law is designed to guarantee the reachability of the sliding surface in a finite-time interval. The sufficient conditions for asymptotically stochastic stability of sliding mode dynamics with a given disturbance attenuation level are presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed method.

Can international environmental cooperation be bought?

2010

In this paper a two-stage game of international environmental agreement formation with asymmetric countries is analytically solved. The equilibrium of the game makes it possible to determine the size and composition of a stable agreement. Two cases are studied. In the first case, countries differ only in abatement costs, while in the second case, they differ in environmental damages. In both cases, two different institutional settings, one without transfers and another with transfers, are considered. The results establish that the asymmetry assumption has no important effects on the scope of cooperation in comparison with the symmetric case if transfers are not used or abatement costs repre…

Opportunities and Challenges in Overcoming the Economic Crisis

2013

Abstract This paper presents the main fundamental concepts concerning the methods of economic analysis: necessity of economic analysis, information system, types of economic analysis, methodologies used for the economic analysis of company, study of the factor which explain the results of the economic analysis of company, stage of the practical analysis. However in relation to conditions of economic crisis. In the same context is presented and analyzed the dictum of Nouriel Roubini, who said: “Stop austerity in the crisis!”. So, this paper analyzes “austerity vs crisis”,“insolvency - good or bad?” and “Sustainable Development” too.

Sustainable European fishery and the Friend of the Sea scheme: tools to achieve sustainable development in the fishery sector

2015

This paper investigates the role of the Friend of the Sea (FOS) scheme as a market tool for sustainable competitive advantage. To capture this effect, we apply a theoretical framework based on the stakeholder theory (SHT) and the natural-resource-based view (NRBV) to two case studies each in Italy and Spain. Our model allows us to explain the main factors determining an effective and competitive sustainable business model in the fishery sector. The results confirm the relevant influence of market forces in acquiring FOS certification and the role of the same as a counterpart to state authority.
