Transforming XML documents to OWL ontologies: A survey

The aims of XML data conversion to ontologies are the indexing, integration and enrichment of existing ontologies with knowledge acquired from these sources. The contribution of this paper consists in providing a classification of the approaches used for the conversion of XML documents into OWL ontologies. This classification underlines the usage profile of each conversion method, providing a clear description of the advantages and drawbacks belonging to each method. Diagnosis of Incipient Bearing Faults using Convolutional Neural Networks

The majority of faults occurring in rotating electrical machinery is attributed to bearings. To reduce downtime, it is desired to apply various diagnostic methods so that bearing degradation can be detected in good time prior to a complete failure. The work presented in this paper utilizes a data-driven machine learning approach based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) in order to diagnose different types of bearing faults. A one-dimensional CNN is trained on vibration signals and compared to a two-dimensional CNN trained in time-frequency domain using continuous wavelet transform (CWT). The Capacitated Arc Routing Problem: Lower bounds

In this paper, we consider the Capacitated Arc Routing Problem (CARP), in which a fleet of vehicles, based on a specified vertex (the depot) and with a known capacity Q, must service a subset of the edges of a graph, with minimum total cost and such that the load assigned to each vehicle does not exceed its capacity. New lower bounds are developed for this problem, producing at least as good results as the already existing ones. Three of the proposed lower bounds are obtained from the resolution of a minimum cost perfect matching problem. Trading off accuracy for efficiency by randomized greedy warping

Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) is a widely used distance measure for time series data mining. Its quadratic complexity requires the application of various techniques (e.g. warping constraints, lower-bounds) for deployment in real-time scenarios. In this paper we propose a randomized greedy warping algorithm for finding similarity between time series instances. We show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the simple greedy approach and also provides very good time series similarity approximation consistently, as compared to DTW. On the classification of dynamical data streams using novel “Anti-Bayesian” techniques

A cloud based architecture to support Electronic Health Record.

We introduce a novel framework of electronic healthcare enabled by a Cloud platform able to host both Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and implement an innovative model of Electronic Health Record (EHR) that is not only patient-oriented but also supports a better governance of the whole healthcare system. The proposed EHR model adopts the state of the art of the Cloud technologies, being able to join the different clinical data of the patient stored within the HISs and EMRs either placed into a local Data Center or hosted into a Cloud Platform enabling new directions of data analysis.

Permanent Stations for Calibration/Validation of Thermal Sensors over Spain

The Global Change Unit (GCU) at the University of Valencia has been involved in several calibration/validation (cal/val) activities carried out in dedicated field campaigns organized by ESA and other organisms. However, permanent stations are required in order to ensure a long-term and continuous calibration of on-orbit sensors.
