Tapology: A Game-Based Platform to Facilitate E-Health and E-Inclusion
2014
Published version of a chapter in the book: Universal Access in Human-Computer Interaction. Aging and Assistive Environments. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-07446-7_36 We have developed a tablet computer game app for low vision users that can be used to introduce a platform for gaming, internet and visual rehabilitation to older users who have not had prior experience with information communication technology (ICT). Our target user group is people diagnosed with Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). The primary goal of the app is to present a fun and engaging means for participants to engage with Information Communication Technology (ICT). A long…
An Exact Solution for the Level-Crossing Rate and the Average Duration of Fades of the Envelope of Sum-of-Cisoids Processes
2012
Authors version of an article published in the journal: Procedia Technology. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.protcy.2012.03.004 Sum-of-cisoids (SOC) processes provide a physically and numerically appealing framework for the modelling and simulation of a wide class of mobile radio channels. This paper is concerned with the problem of finding a general solution for the level-crossing rate (LCR) and the average duration of fades (ADF) of the envelope of SOC processes. Exact expressions are derived for the LCR and the ADF by taking into account that the inphase component, the quadrature component, and the time derivatives of the inphase and quadrature component…
Informasjonsflyt ved mottak og respons på trygghetsalarmer : en casestudie for å undersøke hvilken betydning tilgang på informasjon og informasjonsfl…
2016
Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk- Universitetet i Agder, 2016 The theme of this study is security alarms and information flow. The background for the study is estimates regarding an upcoming growing number of security alarms in municipal healthcare services, recommendations on the transition from analogue to digital security alarms, and reports on the current organization of the safety alarms of varying quality and low efficiency (Frantzen, 2014; Fensli, 2015 Kvernland-Berg, 2014). Purpose The aim of this study was to find what importance access to information and information flow had in the working process with security alarms for a future-oriented health services. Method The su…
Model based design of electro-hydraulic motion control systems for offshore pipe handling equipment
2014
Doktorgradsavhandling i mekatronikk, Universitetet i Agder, 2014 Despite the fact that hydraulics, in general, is considered a mature technology, design of hydraulic systems still offers a number of challenges for both component suppliers and manufacturers of hydraulically actuated machines such as offshore pipe handling equipment. This type of equipment is characterized by high price, high level of system complexity and low production numbers. It requires a great level of skill and experience to develop the equipment and the focus on production and development costs is constantly increasing. Therefore design engineers continuously have to improve their procedures for decision making regard…
ICT and Curriculum Change
2005
The change towards the information society implies that many countries have to change their curricula, because students need to develop competencies that are not addressed in the traditional curricula. A case study approach was applied to examine curriculum changes in ICT-supported pedagogical practices from 28 countries. The analysis focused on curriculum content and goals of the ICT-supported pedagogical practices, how these aims were implemented in practice and which outcomes for students and teachers could be observed. The results showed that the curriculum content often was not new but rather was delivered in a different way. Many ICT-supported pedagogical practices strove to realize n…

Masteroppgave i helse- og sosialinformatikk- Universitetet i Agder, 2016 According to statistics, there will be an increasing number of elderly people and people with dementia in the future. The importance of the relatives are being emphasized as an increasing resource in developing the public health care and caring services in the municipality and many of them contribute with an outstanding effort helping their closest family members. These persons can be important contributors for the person with dementia, in such a way that the person is able to continue with an active and purposeful life in their own home. Welfare technology exists as one of the devices to support that. Based on that it…
El efecto moderador de la edad en la relación entre el valor percibido, las TIC del minorista y la lealtad del cliente
2010
AbstractInformation and communication technology (ICT) may represent a source of benefits for retailers. However, there is a debate in the literature on how ICT influences customer-supplier relationships. In addition, the evidence on the effect of age on consumer attitudes towards retail technological solutions is not conclusive. This paper proposes and tests a model to analyze the influence of retail ICT on consumer loyalty towards the retailer, as well as to assess the moderating role of consumer age on this relationship. As a result, customer assessment of retail ICT, together with perceived value, exerts a positive influence on consumer commitment and satisfaction, being the latter an a…
National Policies that Connect ICT-Based Education Reform to Economic and Social Development
2005
Information and communication technology (ICT) is a principal driver of economic development and social change, worldwide. In many countries, the need for economic and social development is used to justify investments in educational reform and in educational ICT. Yet the connections between national development goals and ICT-based education reform are often more rhetorical than programmatic. This paper identifies the factors that influence economic growth and shows how they supported economic and social development in three national case studies: Singapore, Finland, and Egypt. It describes a systemic framework of growth factors and types of development that can be used to analyze national p…
On the spatial configuration of scatterers for given delay-angle distributions
2014
Published version of an article in the journal: Engineering Letters. Also available from the publisher at: http://www.engineeringletters.com/issues_v22/issue_1/EL_22_1_05.pdf. Open access This paper investigates the distribution of scatterers located around the mobile station (MS) for given delay-angle distributions. The delay-angle distribution function represents the joint probability density function (PDF) of the time-ofarrival (TOA) and angle-of-arrival (AOA). Given such a joint PDF, we first derive a general expression for the distribution of the scatterers in both polar and Cartesian coordinates. We then analyze an important special case in which the TOA and the AOA follow the multipl…
